Data Engineer
The Role
The Fidelity Insurance Group (FIG) Technology team is a small, growing team in Enterprise Services with a 'Start Up' feel. We are seeking a Data Engineer to design and deliver scalable, domain-aligned data products using modern Domain-Driven Design principles and Medallion architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers). This role will partner with business domains to transform raw data into trusted, governed, and high-value data assets that power analytics, AI/ML, and operational decision-making.
The Skills and Expertise you bring
- Domain-Oriented Data Product Development
- Design and build domain-specific data products aligned with business capabilities (e.g., Policy, Customer, Transaction etc).
- Collaborate with domain stakeholders to define data contracts, schemas, and SLAs.
- Enable data product ownership within business-aligned teams.
- Medallion Architecture Implementation
- Develop and manage data pipelines across Bronze (Landing), Silver (Raw), and Gold (curated) layers.
- Ensure data lineage, traceability, and quality enforcement at each layer.
- Modern Data Platform Engineering
- Build scalable pipelines using distributed processing frameworks.
- Optimize performance, cost, and reliability of data workflows.
- Implement event-driven and streaming architectures where applicable.
- Data Governance and Quality
- Embed data governance by design within data products.
- Implement data quality checks, observability, and monitoring.
- Maintain clear metadata, lineage, and documentation.
- Analytics and AI Enablement
- Prepare high-quality datasets for BI and analytics. Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure usability and performance.
- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 5 plus years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data architecture.
- Strong experience with Medallion architecture and distributed data processing.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Understanding of data governance and quality frameworks.
- Experience implementing Domain-Driven architectures.
- Familiarity with data catalog, orchestration, and governance tools.
- Experience with real-time/streaming pipelines and ML data pipelines.
- Experience modernizing legacy data platforms to cloud-native architectures
The Team
You will be a member of the Fidelity Insurance Group. Your main focus will be supporting the platform health, growth, scale and modernization efforts of the platform, application and systems supporting the Fidelity Insurance Group (FIA). In this role you will partner with a variety of key team members including other teams withing the Platform Area, Wealth Digital Experience, FIA, and Brokerage partners. You will be responsible for automated testing, performance testing, chaos testing, application cloud migration and management, CI / CD implementation, security testing, and application development.
Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
