Description

Participate in the installation and maintenance of bus stop benches, bus shelters and related property; perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essentialfunctions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without areasonable accommodation. 

  1. Inspect, clean, relocate, install and maintain bus stops, benches, signs and shelters; prepare surfaces for painting by washing, scraping or other means necessary including sand blasting.
  2. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and identify maintenance problems concerning bus stops, benches and shelters; check for correct set-back compliance on all signs, benches and shelters.
  3. Order materials and plan job requirements such as manpower and equipment necessary do the work.
  4. Identify special traffic problems and recommend solutions to resolve bus stop problems.
  5. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily.
  6. Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures; record and complete maintenance records including completed work assignments.
  7. Perform basic concrete work, such as dig holes, excavate soil, replace sprinkler heads; mix and pour concrete in small quantities for the purpose of installing poles, posts and related signage.
  8. Replace broken sprinkler heads as needed.
  9. Safely operate and use hand and power tools; perform basic maintenance work related to bus stop solar shelters such as replacing low-voltage batteries and light bulbs; perform basic carpentry, minor welding at the bus shelters such as bench repairing, general basic bus shelter and related property.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  2. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

 

High school diploma or GED; and

Three (3) years of maintenance, sign fabrication or street marking experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.Environmental:
Field environment; work around traffic; exposure to noise, and inclement weather conditions.

Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for light to moderate lifting and carrying, standing and walking for prolonged periods of time; operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
