Cleansing Operative

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Somerset to assist with the appointment of a Cleansing Operative, on a 1.5-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £12.85 - £16.97 per hour

Summary:

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Cleansing Operative to join Somerset Council's Street Cleansing team. In this hands-on outdoor role, you will help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces by carrying out a variety of street cleansing duties across Somerset.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, can work independently with minimal supervision, and is committed to delivering high-quality services to the local community.

Responsibilities:

• Carry out street cleansing duties including litter picking, hand sweeping, bin emptying, fly-tip removal, and public toilet cleaning.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across public spaces with minimal disruption to residents and visitors.
• Drive non-LGV vehicles and operate equipment required to complete daily duties.
• Carry out daily vehicle and equipment inspections, including checking fluid levels, tyre pressures, lights, and reporting any defects.
• Operate tools and machinery safely and in accordance with manufacturer guidelines

Essentials:

• Good standard of education.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Self-motivated with a commitment to delivering high-quality services.
• Physically fit and able to undertake manual outdoor work.
• Ability to work safely in all weather conditions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
