Overview
Element has an opportunity for a Chemistry Technician for testing, sample preparation and delivery/collection of samples and preparation of test reports.
Responsibilities
- Prepare soil and environmental samples for chemical analysis (drying, grinding, sieving, digestion and extraction).- Perform routine laboratory analyses using standard test methods and SOPs.- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, including ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS, UV-Vis spectrophotometer, pH and conductivity meters.- Prepare reagents, calibration standards and quality control samples.- Conduct instrument calibration, routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.- Record and review analytical data accurately in laboratory worksheets or LIMS.- Perform quality control checks and ensure compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.- Maintain good laboratory housekeeping and adhere to laboratory safety procedures.- Support method validation, proficiency testing, internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
Skills / Qualifications
- NITEC or Diploma in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related discipline.- Fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Candidates with laboratory experience in environmental or soil analysis will have an advantage.- Experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory is preferred.- Knowledge of analytical techniques such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS or UV-Vis is an advantage.- Good laboratory practices, attention to detail and strong organisational skills.- Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.- Good communication and time management skills.
