A brief overview
This person will be based in Hong Kong and responsible for supporting the Head of Compliance, Hong Kong & Singapore, to ensure RGA operates in accordance with the group policies and local regulatory requirements in Hong Kong and Singapore.
What you will do
- Support the preparation and execution of compliance plan for Hong Kong and Singapore
- Monitor regulatory developments, prepare impact assessments, and support implementation of required actions for new regulations
- Carry out day-to-day compliance activities, including regulatory filings, compliance checks, issue tracking, record keeping and follow-up on action items
- Coordinate and track remediation of internal audit findings, working with relevant stakeholders to support timely closure of agreed actions
- Coordinate preparation of regulatory inspections or external reviews, including information collection, document tracking and follow-up on requests
- Ensure reporting and compliance obligations are adequately monitored and managed through the use of a compliance calendar
- Assist with the identification of risks that potentially exposes RGA to regulatory or other legal sanctions, client complaints, adverse publicity or litigation or otherwise adversely affect the Branches of RGA
- Identify, assess, and escalate compliance issues, control gaps, and emerging risks, and support the development of remediation actions
- Coordinate review of compliance related policies, rules and manuals. Work closely with Head of Compliance, senior management and in-house legal counsel to assure that the Branches manages legal/litigation risks
- Handle administration works of the compliance team
- Provide compliance advisory support to business functions on regulatory obligations, internal policies, governance requirements, and compliance risk matters
- Liaise with regional and group compliance teams to ensure alignment with group policies, standards, and reporting requirements
- Deliver compliance training and awareness initiatives to promote a strong compliance culture across the Branch
Qualifications
- At least 7 years of relevant experience as a risk or compliance professional within a financial institution
- Degree qualified; professional qualifications in accounting, audit or law are highly regarded. IT knowledge is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of Hong Kong and Singapore insurance regulations, with practical insurance operations experience considered an advantage
- Analytical mindset with strong organizational skills; applied knowledge of data analytics is highly preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and collaborative team player
- Ability to influence peers and senior management on compliance risk matters
