Overview
The City of Bishop Police Department is seeking motivated individuals to join as Police Officer Trainees. The City sponsors qualified candidates through a POST-certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy with comprehensive instruction in criminal law, patrol procedures, investigations, report writing, community policing, and emergency response. Trainees participate in classroom instruction, physical fitness training, and practical exercises. Upon successful completion, trainees may be promoted to Police Officer positions. Requirements include being at least 20½ years old, U.S. citizen or permanent resident, high school diploma or GED, good moral character, valid California driver's license, and ability to meet POST medical, psychological, and physical fitness standards. The position requires passing multiple assessments including reading/writing ability, physical agility, oral interview, background investigation, polygraph, medical evaluation, drug screening, and psychological evaluation.
