Wellsite Geologist

The Wellsite Geologist is responsible for providing real-time geological evaluation during drilling operations to ensure accurate well placement, reservoir characterization, and drilling efficiency. The role supports drilling, geosteering, and subsurface teams by interpreting formation data and advising operational decisions at the rig site. Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor drilling operations and evaluate formations in real timeDescribe and analyze drill cuttings and formation samplesInterpret mud logs, gas readings, and lithologyCorrelate well data with offset wells and geological modelsSupport geosteering decisions in horizontal and deviated wellsCommunicate geological findings to:Drilling EngineersDirectional DrillersReservoir & Subsurface TeamsIdentify formation tops, faults, and reservoir boundariesAdvise on casing points, coring intervals, and logging programsPrepare daily geological reports and end-of-well summariesEnsure compliance with HSE standards and company procedures. Qualifications & Experience2–5+ years of wellsite or operational geology experienceStrong knowledge of:Sedimentology & stratigraphyMud logging and wireline/LWD dataGeosteering tools and softwareExperience in shale, conventional, or offshore environmentsStrong decision-making skills under time-critical conditions Work EnvironmentOnshore and offshore drilling rigsRotational schedules (14/14, 21/21, 28/28)
