We are seeking the best talent for a Digital Content Senior Manager. This is a hybrid role with a location of New Brunswick, New Jersey.
The Digital Content & Employee Comms, Senior Manager serves as the enterprise communications lead for Home, Johnson & Johnson's global employee intranet. This role is responsible for ensuring the enterprise employee communications strategy is reflected in the Home experience, including the content employees see, how information is prioritized, and how sectors and functions engage with the platform.
The role drives the global Home editorial strategy, leads the editorial calendar for it, and establishes the governance, standards and criteria that guide how enterprise, sector and functional content is featured on Home. Working closely with sector and functional communications teams, this individual will establish and implement governance, editorial standards and content priorities that create a more consistent and strategic employee experience across Home while supporting the unique needs of different audiences.
In partnership with the Home platform team, this role will help shape Home to support employee communications objectives. This includes finding opportunities to improve the employee experience, recommending enhancements to content experience, page design, personalization and platform capabilities, and establishing a more consistent approach to how features and functionality are deployed across sector and function communications.
The successful candidate will combine strong editorial judgment, digital channel expertise, critical thinking and collaborator leadership to ensure Home remains a trusted, engaging and effective channel for employees around the world.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Global Home Editorial Strategy
· Serve as managing editor for Home, being responsible for the global editorial calendar, story flow, publishing priorities and content mix.
· Develop and maintain a global Home editorial strategy that reflects enterprise priorities, business moments, culture, innovation, employee storytelling and leadership messages.
· Ensure Home content is current, relevant, engaging, accessible and useful for a global employee audience.
· Apply strong editorial judgment to identify stories that help employees understand what matters most across the company.
· Set a high standard for digital storytelling by using engaging formats such as employee stories, video, graphics, quizzes and other interactive or multimedia content where appropriate.
Establish Home Governance, Criteria and Editorial Standards
· Create and lead editorial criteria for what belongs on Home, what qualifies for prominent homepage placement and what is better suited for targeted channels, newsletters or local communication vehicles.
· Co-lead content governance audits, recommend governance updates and socialize new or revised standards with content publishers and communications partners.
· Define standards for quality, tone, length, accessibility, tagging, targeting, imagery, metadata and search optimization.
· Help reduce communication noise by ensuring Home is a focused publishing destination and a strategic channel for relevant, prioritized employee content.
· Influence governance for new custom content opportunities on Home, such as homepage takeovers or priority placements.
Shape How Sectors and Functions Show Up on Home
· Help connect Home with the integrated employee channel model, including enterprise, functional and sector newsletters using shared templates, J&J content and partner-provided content.
· Co-lead editor/community meetings with sector and functional communicators to understand business needs, address pain points, share best practices and highlight strong work.
Manage Day-to-Day Editorial Operations and Publishing
· Own the day-to-day Home editorial calendar, including intake, planning, prioritization, stakeholder coordination, approvals, publishing readiness and quality assurance.
· Create communications and assets that help employees, leaders and business stakeholders understand the value of Home and know how to use it effectively.
· Provide communication support for Home updates, platform changes, downtime messages, governance updates, feature rollouts and major projects.
Integrate Home Across the Employee Communications Ecosystem
· Ensure Home is integrated with J&J enterprise employee communications channels and supports a clear, consistent employee experience.
· Partner with HR, enterprise, sector and functional communications teams to determine the best channel approach for all-employee and targeted communications.
· Help define the relationship between Home, enterprise newsletters, functional newsletters, sector newsletters and other employee channels.
· Advocate for channel discipline by helping partners understand when Home is the right channel and when alternate channels are more appropriate.
· Represent J&J employee communications needs to the Home platform team and ensure the Home platform team is aware of global business priorities, employee communications needs and partner feedback.
· Help prioritize Home product roadmap opportunities based on enterprise communications strategy, business needs, employee experience and publisher pain points.
Use Data to Improve Content and Channel Performance
· Use Home analytics and other measurement tools to assess content performance, employee engagement and channel effectiveness.
· Partner with Home to track and analyze views, engagement, click-throughs, reactions, comments, search behavior and other available indicators.
· Share insights with publishers, communicators and Home team to improve content quality, relevance, format and timing.
· Co-create mid-year and end-of-year review presentations with the Home team, including site metrics, new features, content trends and upcoming changes.
· Use data to proactively recommend improvements to editorial strategy, governance, content organization and channel experience.
Required Capabilities
Editorial Leadership and Judgment
· Strong editorial judgment and ability to determine what is important, timely and relevant for a global employee audience.
· Experience managing an editorial calendar or flagship internal channel, such as an intranet, employee news platform, global newsletter or digital workplace channel.
Strategic Communications and Enterprise Mindset
· Ability to connect content decisions to enterprise priorities, employee communications strategy, business strategy and culture.
· Strong business acumen and understanding of how communications can support alignment, engagement and employee understanding.
· Ability to balance enterprise-wide storytelling with sector, function, regional and local communication needs.
· Experience developing channel strategies, editorial frameworks, content governance or operating models.
Digital Channel and Intranet Expertise
· Strong knowledge of digital content best practices, including audience targeting, tagging, metadata, search, accessibility, usability and content lifecycle management.
· Experience with content management systems and backend publishing requirements; experience with Unily or similar intranet platforms is preferred.
· Ability to partner effectively with technology, digital workplace, UX, analytics and platform teams.
· Comfort adopting new tools and workflows, including AI-enabled content, measurement and publishing solutions where appropriate.
Governance, Operations and Measurement
· Experience creating publishing criteria, content standards, governance guidance, templates or repeatable processes.
· Strong project management and operational discipline, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines and stakeholders.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, compliance, accessibility and quality assurance.
· Ability to translate data into practical recommendations and continuous improvement actions.
Stakeholder Management and Influence
· Ability to build support and engagement across a wide range of colleagues and drive outcomes without direct authority.
· Confidence advising enterprise, sector and functional communicators on editorial decisions, channel fit and content prioritization.
· Strong collaboration skills, service mindset and ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities and sensitive topics with discretion.
· Experience working in a global, matrixed organization and partnering across functions, regions, sectors and leadership levels.
Qualifications & Capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in employee communications, corporate communications, journalism, digital content, intranet management or a related field.
- Strong editorial judgment and the ability to identify, develop and prioritize content that is relevant and engaging for a global employee audience.
- Ability to align content, channel decisions and employee experiences with broader business priorities and employee communications strategy.
- Experience developing and implementing editorial standards, governance frameworks, content strategies or channel operating models.
- Strong knowledge of digital content best practices, including audience targeting, accessibility, search optimization, content lifecycle management and employee engagement.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$122,000.00 - $212,750.00Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k))Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation –120 hours per calendar year
