Description
The Director of Finance is a strategic business leader responsible for directing the overall financial management, planning, and performance of the organization. This role develops and executes the finance strategy in alignment with corporate objectives while ensuring strong financial controls, regulatory compliance, and effective risk management. The position provides leadership for all finance and accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, cash flow optimization, cost accounting, internal audit coordination, and external financial audits.
The Director of Finance serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, providing actionable financial analysis, insights, and recommendations that support profitability, growth, operational efficiency, and long-term business success. This role is responsible for developing and mentoring finance team members, driving continuous improvement initiatives, strengthening financial processes, and ensuring sound decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis. Additionally, the position oversees enterprise risk management participation, banking relationships, insurance programs, and product and process costing to ensure financial considerations are fully integrated into strategic and operational decisions across the organization.
Responsibilities and Duties
Strategic Financial Leadership & Business Partnership
• Develop and execute the finance strategy aligned with company objectives.
• Partner with executive leadership to establish financial goals, policies, and long-term economic strategies.
• Provide financial insights, forecasting, and decision support to drive business performance and growth.
• Support strategic decisions related to investments, product portfolio, pricing, and resource allocation.
Financial Planning, Analysis & Performance Management
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
• Monitor company financial performance, profitability, cash flow, and key metrics.
• Conduct financial analysis, statistical studies, and operational performance reviews.
• Ensure accurate product and process costing to support pricing and profitability decisions.
• Drive cost optimization, continuous improvement, and efficiency initiatives.
Financial Governance, Risk Management & Compliance
• Maintain accounting principles, policies, controls, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and legal standards.
• Oversee enterprise risk management activities and internal audit planning.
• Coordinate external audits and regulatory reporting.
• Manage insurance programs and other risk mitigation activities.
Treasury, Capital & Team Leadership
• Oversee treasury operations, banking relationships, cash management, and foreign exchange activities.
• Develop, mentor, and lead the finance and accounting team.
• Build organizational capability and succession within the finance function.
Requirements
Qualifications and Required Skills
• A bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance
• CPA and/or CMA preferred
• Strong manager, strategist, visionary, change agent
• Excellent influencing skills
• Understanding of the dynamics of change management
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to systems-level detail
• Collaborative leadership style with demonstrated ability to influence and coordinate cross-functional teams
Work Environment
Primarily in-office with remote work days as needed. Standard office environment with occasional visits to manufacturing floor for requirements gathering. May require occasional extended hours to support month-end/year-end processes such as physical inventory, financial close and financial audit.
