ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a Chief Steward for a luxury resort in Jasper, Alberta. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, this is a hands-on management role responsible for leading the stewarding team and overseeing all back-of-house kitchen operations to support the culinary team in delivering exceptional service. Proven management experience is required for this role.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Directly supervise all stewarding employees and supervisors, including training, performance management, scheduling, and task delegation
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation across all kitchen and back-of-house areas
• Work closely with outlet leaders to ensure adequate par levels of china, silverware, and glassware are maintained
• Conduct periodic inventory counts and identify purchase or equipment requirements
• Oversee correct usage and safe handling of all chemicals in line with WHMIS and health and safety standards
• Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment and follow up on repairs
• Play an active role in recruiting, orienting, and onboarding new team members
• Foster an inclusive, professional, and positive working environment across the department

 

WHAT YOU BRING

• Minimum 4 years of proven leadership and supervisory experience in a Food and Beverage or stewarding operation
• Management experience is required
• Strong knowledge of large-scale stewarding department operations
• WHMIS certification required
• Computer proficiency including Excel, Word, and email
• Highly organized, results-driven, and able to work effectively under pressure
• Solid understanding of workplace health and safety practices
• Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management is a definite asset
• Must have valid Canadian work authorization - no visa sponsorship available
