Structural Test Program (Military Derivatives)

Job Description:

An opportunity for a Structural Test Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space, Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Structural Testing Team, which is responsible for managing, executing, and analyzing structural and dynamic tests—including static, fatigue, damage tolerance, stiffness, bird impact, and calibration for in-flight load measurement—ensuring compliance with structural requirements and safety specifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The main tasks of the jobholder will be:

• Act as Test Leader for new programs, overseeing global test planning, managing workload and workforce allocations, and ensuring full achievement of team KPIs.
• Lead the execution and compliance phase of structural tests, ensuring full adherence to test specifications and conducting live monitoring during the execution phase.
• Define, control, and issue official test documentation, including Test Plans, Test Results, and test specimen instrumentation records.
• Prepare test load programs (actuator loads) and participate in defining test instrumentation for in-flight load measurements, taking responsibility for deriving load determination formulas.
• Manage tooling manufacturing and mechanical assembly, performing tracking, technical approval of manufactured tool parts, verifying mechanical assembly, and providing continuous technical support.
• Perform structural integrity analyses and coordinate necessary inspections to guarantee the structural integrity of all designed test tools, elements, and setups.

• Education: Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering degree or a related discipline.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in Structural Testing, Mechanical Assembly, or Engineering Test Management.
• Soft skills: High adaptability to work on new topics, proactive leadership, strong communication skills for cross-functional alignment, and ability to work in a networking mode.
• Languages: Advanced level in English & Spanish (both written & spoken).
• Technical knowledge: Expertise in static, fatigue, damage tolerance, dynamic testing, test load definition, instrumentation (in-flight load measurement), and tooling design verification.
• Valuable / Nice to have: Experience with data acquisition systems, actuator control software, or FEA tools for structural integrity assessment will be valued.
