After School / Day Camp Counselor

St. Andrew's Parish Parks & Playground Commission is hiring energetic, dependable after school counselors to help create a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for children ages 5 to 12. This is a great opportunity for high school and college students, future teachers, recreation professionals, and anyone who enjoys working with children. Applicants 15+ are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

• After School Program: Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
• Day Camp: 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. during school breaks (teacher workdays, Fall, Winter, and Spring Breaks)
• Hours vary based on program needs. Max of 29 hours per week.

Pay

• Starting at $17.00 - $18.50 per hour, depending on experience and ability to drive agency vehicles

What You'll Do

• Lead fun, age-appropriate games, crafts, sports, and other recreational activities
• Supervise children ages 5-12 in a safe and positive environment
• Assist with homework time and encourage positive behavior
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
• Maintain clean, organized program areas
• Help create an engaging, welcoming environment where every child can thrive

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old
• Experience working with children is preferred
• CPR/First Aid/AED certification required (or ability to obtain)
• Darkness2Light - Stewards of Children certification required (Can provide in-house)
• Must be dependable, enthusiastic, and able to work well as part of a team
• Applicants who meet age and licensing requirements may have opportunities to drive agency vehicles
