Job Description:

Department Overview

Customer Master and Data Controls & Remediation Operations plays an important role in strengthening the quality, integrity and reliability of customer data supporting KYC operations.

As part of this team, you’ll work across Customer Master Operations, KYC, Technology, Data, Risk and Control partners to help ensure customer information moves accurately through the end-to-end KYC lifecycle. You’ll combine operational leadership with data-driven problem solving, identifying where processes or data are breaking down, recognizing patterns and root causes, and translating those findings into sustainable improvements.

Your work will help strengthen Customer Master processes, improve operational efficiency, enhance data controls and drive effective remediation of customer data issues within a highly regulated environment.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll lead and support activities across Customer Master operations, data controls, process improvement and data remediation, helping strengthen the connection between our KYC processes and the data that supports them.

Lead Customer Master Operations

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of Customer Master operational activities supporting KYC processes.
  • Manage operational priorities, volumes, risks and issues to support timely and effective delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary manual activity.
  • Support clear operational procedures, ownership, governance and escalation pathways.
  • Apply an understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and principles to support effective management of customer master data.

Strengthen Data Controls

  • Develop and oversee controls that help identify inconsistencies, missing information, unexpected changes and emerging patterns in customer data.
  • Use reconciliations and data analysis to assess whether key customer attributes remain accurate and consistent as information moves through the KYC lifecycle.
  • Analyze data patterns, anomalies and recurring data issues to identify potential root causes, operational impacts and control weaknesses.
  • Monitor control results, investigate exceptions and ensure material issues are appropriately documented, escalated and progressed.
  • Help establish sustainable monitoring that identifies potential data issues before they create downstream operational or regulatory impact.

Drive Data Remediation

  • Lead the investigation and remediation of customer data issues affecting KYC operations.
  • Partner with KYC, Data and Technology teams to analyze issues, understand root causes and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Coordinate remediation activity across affected populations, ensuring issues have clear ownership and appropriate tracking through to resolution.
  • Look beyond individual exceptions to identify patterns, recurring themes and systemic issues, using these findings to develop preventative controls and sustainable solutions.
  • Support remediation and change activity arising from regulatory, risk, audit or control-driven requirements.

Improve Processes End-to-End

  • Assess Customer Master and related KYC processes from a front-to-back perspective to identify operational, data and control gaps.
  • Translate operational pain points and data findings into practical improvement opportunities and clearly defined business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain business requirements, process flows and supporting documentation to articulate current-state challenges and future-state solutions.
  • Partner with Technology, Data and business teams to define requirements and support the delivery of sustainable solutions.
  • Support project and change delivery within a regulatory-focused environment, ensuring operational, data and control requirements are appropriately understood and addressed.
  • Explore opportunities to use automation, analytics and emerging technology to reduce manual effort, improve data quality and strengthen control effectiveness.

Lead Through Partnership & Insight

  • Build and sustain strong working relationships across KYC Operations, Customer Master, Technology, Data, Risk and Control functions, operating effectively within cross-functional delivery teams.
  • Use data analysis to identify trends, risks, operational issues and improvement opportunities and translate findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Develop clear, concise presentations and management information that translate complex data findings into messages suitable for executive-level leadership.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, adapting complex data, operational and technical information to the needs of different audiences.
  • Provide clear management information on operational performance, data quality, remediation progress, risks and emerging trends.
  • Promote a strong culture of accountability, partnership, continuous improvement and effective risk management.

What You Need to Succeed

We value different experiences and perspectives. If your background gives you relevant experience that isn't specifically listed below, we encourage you to tell us about it in your application.

Required

  • Experience leading or managing operations within KYC, AML, Customer Master, customer data, financial crime operations, data operations or a comparable regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and principles, with an understanding of how customer master data, data quality and governance support effective business and operational processes.
  • Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to identify trends, patterns, anomalies and data issues and translate findings into meaningful business insights.
  • Demonstrated experience using data and operational analysis to investigate issues, conduct root-cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Ability to translate complex data findings into clear presentations and management information for executive-level leadership, highlighting key findings, risks, impacts and recommended actions.
  • Experience designing, operating or overseeing data quality, reconciliation, exception management or operational controls.
  • Experience developing business requirements, process flows and supporting documentation, including translating operational or data problems into clearly defined requirements.
  • Experience working within a regulatory-focused environment and supporting regulatory, risk, control or compliance-related project and change delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective partnerships across cross-functional teams, including Business, Operations, Technology, Data, Risk and Control functions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and drive issues through to resolution.

Preferred

  • Experience working specifically with Customer Master, customer reference data or KYC platforms and processes.
  • Experience working with Informatica systems or platforms, particularly in support of Master Data Management or customer data processes.
  • Experience delivering process improvement, automation or data remediation initiatives within a financial institution.
  • Knowledge of data governance concepts including data lineage, data quality, root-cause analysis, issue management and remediation.
  • Experience using data analysis and reporting tools to identify trends, recognize data patterns, monitor controls and support management and executive decision-making.
  • Experience working across business, operations, technology and data teams to deliver complex, cross-functional change.

What Success Looks Like

You’ll succeed in this role by helping create an environment where:

  • Customer Master processes are efficient, controlled and clearly owned.
  • Master Data Management principles are effectively incorporated into Customer Master operations and controls.
  • Customer data issues are identified quickly, with patterns and anomalies used to help identify their source.
  • Remediation addresses both the immediate issue and its underlying root cause.
  • Controls provide meaningful visibility into customer data quality across the KYC lifecycle.
  • Data analysis is converted into clear, actionable insight that enables effective management and executive decision-making.
  • Business requirements and process flows clearly connect identified operational or data issues to sustainable solutions.
  • Regulatory and control-driven change is delivered with appropriate operational rigor and accountability.
  • KYC, Operations, Technology, Data, Risk and Control teams work together to resolve problems sustainably rather than repeatedly correcting the same exceptions.
