Description
The City of Wichita is seeking a motivated, community-focused professional to serve as the Community Services Representative (CSR) for District 2. Based in the City Manager’s Office, this position connects residents, neighborhoods, and community organizations with City services and initiatives while supporting and creating opportunities for residents to participate in City decision-making processes. The CSR works closely with the District 2 Council Member to advance district priorities, with a focus on fostering civic engagement, providing constituent services, and coordinating projects that address community needs. The role emphasizes facilitation, cross-departmental collaboration, and project management to address both systemic community challenges and individual resident concerns.
The ideal candidate is self-directed, adaptable, and skilled at building relationships, navigating complex issues, and managing competing priorities with minimal supervision. Success in this role requires strong judgment, initiative, customer service, and the ability to work collaboratively with elected leadership, City departments, community stakeholders, and residents. The successful candidate will be comfortable operating independently in ambiguous situations while facilitating meaningful community engagement and advancing district and Citywide priorities.
Days and hours for this position: Work hours are generally Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. This position requires some evening and Saturday commitments, including a monthly District Advisory Board meeting (typically the first Monday of the month starting at 6 p.m.) and some Saturday morning District Breakfasts. Additional evening and weekend meetings or events may occur based on community needs. Flexibility in scheduling is available to accommodate these commitments. Work is primarily based at City Hall with some travel throughout the district. While this is primarily an in-person, community-based role, limited remote work is available based on job responsibilities, operational needs, and demonstrated ability to effectively manage work independently.
