About Blyce
Blyce has been driving the digital transformation of governments and communities in over 20 countries for more than 40 years. Our platforms and services power critical systems in taxation, social security, and permits & licensing. These solutions create tangible improvements in citizens’ daily lives, especially in small islands and developing nations. We work with a multicultural team of 175+ professionals across Curaçao, the Netherlands, Colombia, Bonaire and Malaysia. With passion and purpose, we build technology that matters.
About the role
As a Senior Data Engineer at Blyce, you design, develop, maintain, and optimize the data pipelines and data warehouse solutions that support our products and clients. Take ownership of the full data integration lifecycle, from source systems to reliable and performant data warehouse solutions. Working primarily with Microsoft SQL Server and SSIS, you improve existing processes, build new integrations, troubleshoot complex data issues, and ensure data quality and performance.
What will you do?
Your main responsibilities focus on building reliable, scalable, and maintainable data solutions:
Design, develop, maintain, and optimize ETL processes supporting our products, clients, and other data sources.
Maintain and improve existing SSIS packages and develop new integrations when required.
Develop and optimize T-SQL solutions, including stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers.
Design and maintain data warehouse structures and dimensional models, including fact and dimension tables and incremental data loads.
Monitor and optimize ETL, SQL, and database performance, including solutions processing large data volumes.
Ensure data quality and reliability through validation, reconciliation, logging, monitoring, and error handling.
Investigate and resolve production issues related to ETL processes, databases, performance, and data quality.
Maintain solutions in Git, participate in peer reviews, and contribute to development and data engineering standards.
Support DevOps, testing, and deployment processes for databases, data warehouses, and ETL solutions.
Collaborate with internal teams and, when needed, clients to translate requirements and complex data problems into practical technical solutions.
Support downstream reporting solutions such as Power BI and SSRS and adapt to new data sources and technologies as our platform evolves.
What you bring
Required experience and qualifications
Strong professional experience in data engineering, ETL development, and data warehousing.
Advanced SQL Server and T-SQL skills, including performance analysis and optimization of complex data processes.
Hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting SSIS solutions and production data pipelines.
Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, data warehouse design, data quality, and large-volume data processing.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex information into clear, meaningful insights.
Ability to work independently and take ownership in a growing and increasingly complex environment.
Excellent English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary and international teams.
Technical requirements
Advanced experience with Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including stored procedures, views, functions, triggers, indexing, execution plans, and query optimization.
Strong hands-on experience with SSIS, including developing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing ETL packages.
Strong knowledge of data warehousing and dimensional modeling, including fact and dimension tables, star schemas, historical data, and incremental loading.
Experience designing ETL solutions for large data volumes, with a strong focus on performance, scalability, reliability, and efficient processing.
Experience implementing data validation, reconciliation, logging, monitoring, and error handling for production data pipelines.
Experience with Git, Visual Studio, DevOps, peer review, and deployment processes for databases, data warehouses, and ETL solutions.
Experience integrating different data sources and formats, including relational databases, JSON, and XML. Knowledge of Python is beneficial.
Knowledge of Power BI, including semantic models, data refreshes, troubleshooting, and creating or modifying simple reports. Experience supporting SSRS is beneficial.
Ability and willingness to learn and adopt new data engineering technologies as the company's data platform evolves.
