Job Title: Robotic Field Engineer I
Department: Robotics Field Engineering
Job Summary:
The Robotics Field Engineer I will deploy, maintain, and support Bear Robotics’ robotic solutions across a variety of industry settings, including restaurants, senior living communities, hotels, casinos, corporate campuses, and sports venues. This role provides both remote and on-site customer support, performs routine and Level 1 robot repairs, and contributes to product feedback and continuous improvement. The engineer will be on-call one weekend per month and travel up to 80% of time to customer sites and Bear Robotics’ US offices.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Deployment
- Install, configure, and commission robots to site specific requirements, including on-site testing to validate performance before handoff.
- Partner with customer contacts to integrate robots into existing operational workflows, and train end users on daily operation, upkeep, and basic troubleshooting.
Support & Maintenance
- Respond to customer inquiries, hotline calls, and technical support requests; diagnose issues and escalate to higher-level support as needed.
- Perform root cause analysis on product failures and execute corrective actions.
- Perform Level 1 repairs and routine maintenance, including software updates, hardware inspections, and component replacements.
- Monitor performance of deployed robots and proactively recommend operational improvements.
Documentation & Product Input
- Maintain accurate records of customer support activity, site documentation, and asset tracking in the CRM.
- Represent the voice of the customer to internal teams, and occasionally test prototype features and recommend modifications.
General
- Follow safety protocols and identify potential hazards during deployments and service visits.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule
- This role requires flexible hours to support customer operations across multiple sites, including evenings and weekends. On-call rotation is one weekend per month.
- Travel: up to 80%
Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability standards.
- Proficiency with Google Suite and Slack.
Preferred Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:
- Ability to read and occasionally edit code.
- Experience with Linux Terminal.
- Restaurant/hospitality experience preferred.
- Previous customer-facing technical support experience.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI.
Education/Experience:
- Associate’s degree, technical certification, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on technical field service experience.
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is a plus.

- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to communicate clearly, hear, and respond effectively in noisy environments.

The pay range for this position is $79K - $97K + discretionary annual performance bonus . Pay is dependent on the applicant's relevant experience.
