This job is responsible for infrastructure tool/service designs within technical domains in accordance with architectural governance, standards and policies. Key responsibilities include facilitating deployment of tools/services by leading others in solution development, maintenance of templates, playbooks and automation used during implementation. Job expectations include demonstrating expertise within technical domains, decomposing issues or objectives into work units, advancing efficient solution delivery practices, and promoting exceptional design, engineering and organizational practices.
The Cloud Governance Authority (CGA) is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer Lead to support the design, development, and maturation of Bank Managed External Public Cloud use cases across AWS and Microsoft Azure.
This role serves as a key partner to application delivery teams, helping translate business requirements and technical solutions into well-defined cloud use cases that are complete, accurate, and ready for governance review. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, architects, cloud service teams, risk partners, and control practices to ensure cloud solutions align with enterprise standards, regulatory requirements, and approved cloud patterns.
Success in this role requires a combination of cloud engineering expertise, architectural thinking, process design, stakeholder engagement, and strong written communication skills. The candidate must be able to simplify complex cloud solutions, identify potential governance concerns early, and drive efficient progression through cloud approval processes.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a Cloud Governance subject matter expert supporting development of Bank Managed External Public Cloud use cases across AWS and Azure
Partner with application teams, architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to define, document, and mature cloud use cases from initial concept through governance approval
Consult with requesting teams to ensure use cases clearly articulate architecture, data flows, technology components, operational processes, and control considerations prior to formal review
Identify gaps, ambiguities, and potential approval obstacles early in the lifecycle to reduce review cycles and rework
Collaborate with control practices, GIS, architecture, compliance, risk, and cloud service teams to understand evolving requirements and incorporate them into use case guidance and design patterns
Develop and maintain reusable templates, reference architectures, implementation guidance, and playbooks that promote consistent and efficient cloud adoption
Evaluate proposed AWS and Azure services and capabilities for alignment with enterprise cloud governance requirements, standards, and approved patterns
Support the development of standard use case patterns that accelerate cloud adoption and reduce complexity for technology teams
Drive continuous improvement of the cloud governance process through automation, workflow optimization, metrics, and stakeholder feedback
Provide technical consultation and guidance on cloud-native architecture patterns, infrastructure design considerations, and operational readiness requirements
Confirms that application and business requirements have been translated into technical definitions, reference models, blueprints, and playbooks to guide development and integration of technology solutions
Contributes to the creation/selection of functional and non-functional product evaluation requirements within and across domains
Reviews and may develop software solutions to address manual and repeatable work or inefficient processes
Reviews and guides the evaluation of reference models, blueprints, playbooks and the execution of on-site evaluations of third-party products being considered for firm adoption
Mentors and assists Infrastructure resources on infrastructure service along with application integration validation methods and tools to ensure that technology solutions comply with enterprise system design and engineering standards
Promotes an inclusive and healthy working environment and help to resolve organizational impediments/blockers
Required Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in cloud engineering, cloud architecture, infrastructure engineering, technology consulting, or solution design
Strong knowledge of AWS services and cloud architecture patterns
Experience documenting technical solutions, architectures, and operational processes for review by risk, governance, architecture, or security organizations
Experience consulting with application or platform teams to define requirements and develop implementation approaches
Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, identity, resiliency, and operational concepts
Experience developing technical standards, reference architectures, blueprints, or implementation guidance
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to influence outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups without direct authority
Desired Qualifications:
Deep AWS experience, including experience evaluating and enabling new AWS services and capabilities
Azure experience
Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and platform services
Experience supporting Cloud Governance, Cloud Architecture, Platform Engineering, or Cloud Service Enablement functions
Knowledge of Bank Managed External Public Cloud governance processes and cloud risk management practices
Experience with observability platforms, telemetry solutions, and cloud monitoring frameworks
Experience with policy-as-code, automated compliance controls, and cloud governance tooling
Familiarity with multi-cloud strategies and enterprise cloud service enablement
Experience working with infrastructure platforms supporting large-scale cloud migrations and cloud-native modernization efforts
