Job Description
Experience
- Four years of experience in a hospital
- Two years of experience in an operating room
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a healthcare field or completion of advanced healthcare program
- Experience and training in medical equipment repair
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Certification Summary
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in various personal computer hardware/software applications and equipment database programs
- Demonstrates safe operation and troubleshooting for advanced surgical services medical equipment
- Demonstrates safe operation and troubleshooting for advanced surgical services medical equipment (Patient use equipment--suction, electrocauter, video/audio equipment, laparoscopy light sources, monitors, DaVinci, etc)
Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrates proper use of equipment after appropriate training and knowledge of surgical environment.
- Troubleshoots failed equipment during critical time in operating room and all other Surgical Services areas. In-OR suite equipment used on patients, often during case.
- Provides education to staff as needed to operate and troubleshoot equipment.
- Works closely with leadership team to inventory surgical specialty equipment.
- Participates actively in performance improvement process through identification and resolution of areas of concern.
- Participates in maintaining and monitoring work environment to ensure continual state of Joint Commission readiness.
- Participates in capital budget process as needed.
- Presents safety and technical information on new and current equipment at staff meetings as needed.
- Coordinates equipment maintenance with Clinical Engineering and vendor as required.
