The Brazer Trainee is responsible for learning the skills and processes required to build and prepare specialized Pre-Conditioned Air (PCA) systems that power aircraft equipment on the ground. Working alongside experienced team members, the Brazer Trainee will receive hands-on training in assembly, HVAC systems, and brazing while developing the knowledge and technical skills needed to perform the Brazer role independently.

This is a developmental position designed to prepare team members for progression into a Brazer role upon demonstrating competency in required duties and successfully completing certifications, courses, and/or other qualification requirements established by the business unit.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Participate in on-the-job training and other required learning activities to develop the skills necessary to perform Brazer responsibilities safely and effectively
  • Learn to assemble piping, mechanical parts, and electrical components for PCA systems using engineering drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and established procedures
  • Learn and perform brazing and plumbing techniques used to connect HVAC systems and copper assemblies under appropriate guidance and supervision
  • Develop the ability to set up, test, and troubleshoot PCA units in accordance with established procedures
  • Learn to inspect and verify work quality and make appropriate corrections based on schematics, specifications, and procedures
  • Safely use basic hand tools, power tools, measurement devices, and test equipment as required
  • Maintain required documentation and learn to complete work order entries in systems such as ProPlanner
  • Follow established safety, quality, and production procedures throughout the training process
  • Demonstrate continued progress toward proficiency in the skills and responsibilities required of the Brazer role
  • Complete required training, certifications, assessments, and/or courses established by the business unit to demonstrate readiness for the Brazer role
  • Support team activities and continuous improvement efforts as knowledge and experience develop

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent education OR relevant manufacturing, mechanical, technical, or related experience
  • Ability and willingness to learn brazing, HVAC assembly, and related manufacturing processes through company-provided training
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and learn to read engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
  • Ability to safely use or learn to use basic hand tools, power tools, and measurement equipment
  • Willingness and ability to successfully complete required brazing certifications, courses, assessments, and/or other training established by the business unit
  • May require the ability to obtain forklift or overhead crane certification depending on assignment

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, welding, or brazing experience
  • Familiarity with basic measurement tools and manufacturing safety practices
  • Experience reading blueprints, schematics, or technical work instructions
  • Experience with ProPlanner or other production tracking systems
  • Technical education or coursework in HVAC, mechanics, electro-mechanics, welding, brazing, or a related field

  • This position is based in a manufacturing or production environment and may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery, or temperature fluctuations.
  • The role may require standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, lifting items up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, or using tools and equipment.
  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.
  • Visual and auditory acuity are needed for safe equipment operation and effective communication in a busy workspace.
