This position reports to:
Technology Manager__
Your Role and Responsibilities
We are looking for a senior UX/UI Designer at ABB Oy, Marine & Ports division in Vuosaari, Helsinki. In this role, you will collaborate closely with multiple Product Owners, Global Product Management, globally located development teams, and other key stakeholders to develop, shape, and direct the UI / UX design of our products.
You will be responsible for selected UX/UI work in a small team, with room to build your professional skills in UI/UX design, help refine design processes, and engage with end customers and the marine industry.
You will be mainly accountable for
Managing end-to-end design activities and developing design practices, connecting user insights, design systems, and business objectives to create meaningful outcomes across complex product ecosystems.
Supporting R&D projects to produce harmonized and consistent UI designs (UI design reviews)
Spreading and advocating human-centered design mindset and acting as the first point of contact regarding design on selected activities
Collaborating with developers and playing an active role in design iterations (changes, refinements and ongoing improvements)
Conducting UX/UI concept development and customer interviews
Qualifications for the Role
Advanced UX/UI and visual design abilities, with a portfolio that showcases this experience
8+ years of experience in UX/UI design and documented work experience and examples from shippable products
Experience of leading UX/UI design tasks for Marine industry (vessel applications)
Ability to translate abstract ideas and requirements into production-ready design deliverables
Solid visual standards, high attention to detail, great documentation and communication skills
Proficiency with UX/UI design tools such as Figma, and understanding of Qt Design Studio
Ability to communicate also on the technical level (CSS, HTML) with development teams, experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, DevOps) and different platforms
A M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in UX/UI design or other relevant design area
Fluent English communication skills, both verbal and written.
