Position summary:
The HR Advisor is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of human resources support for employees and managers across the Lime and Somers populations. This role operates as a hands-on HR generalist, partnering closely with leaders to manage all aspects of the employee life cycle while ensuring alignment with local employment requirements. Based in the UK, the role works in close collaboration with the Bermuda HR Business Partner and UK based HR Business Partner, acting as the primary HR contact for assigned employee groups and ensuring consistent, high-quality HR service delivery across jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-Day HR Management
- Serve as the first point of contact for managers and employees on all HR-related matters, providing practical, timely, and compliant advice.
- Manage the full employee life cycle, including onboarding, job changes, performance management, leaves of absence, and offboarding.
- Maintain accurate employment documentation, contracts, and records in line with company policy and local legal requirements.
Employee Relations & Case Management
- Lead day-to-day employee relations activity, including performance improvement processes, disciplinary actions, grievances, absence management, and employee investigations.
- Partner with Employment Counsel and the HRBP as needed on complex or sensitive cases.
- Ensure consistent application of policies while balancing business needs and employee experience.
- Provide regular updates of HR matter’s and escalations as needed to Group HR & Somers
Manager Support & Advisory
- Provide ongoing coaching and guidance to people managers on performance management, employee development, and effective leadership practices.
- Support managers through organizational change, restructurings, role changes, and workforce actions.
- Advise on role design, job leveling, and reporting structures in coordination with HRBP guidance.
Talent, Performance & Development
- Coordinate and support annual performance review cycles, goal-setting, calibration discussions, and pay-for-performance processes.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to support day-to-day hiring activity, including approvals, offer development, and onboarding.
- Support employee development planning and internal mobility discussions.
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Support
- Support compensation processes including salary reviews, incentive administration, internal equity reviews, and promotion increases in line with Somers frameworks.
- Act as a day-to-day HR contact for benefit queries, vendor coordination, and employee communications.
- Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll inputs, changes, and reconciliations.
Policy Administration & Compliance
- Interpret, implement, and administer HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with UK employment law and internal governance standards.
- Support audits, regulatory requests, and internal reviews as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, templates, and operational effectiveness.
HR Projects & Collaboration
- Support HR initiatives led by the Bermuda HRBP and global HR teams, including policy rollouts, system implementations, engagement initiatives, and change efforts.
- Participate in cross-regional HR collaboration to ensure consistency across locations.
- Culture, Engagement & Communication
- Support employee engagement initiatives, wellbeing programs, and inclusion efforts at the local level.
- Assist in preparing HR communications, presentations, and employment-related data for leadership.
- Act as a visible presence for HR, reinforcing Somers values and fostering a positive employee experience.
Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Prior experience as an HR Advisor or HR Generalist within a professional services or financial services environment, with a strong preference for candidates with Lloyds market experience
- CIPD Level 5 or Level 7 (or equivalent professional qualification).
- Exposure to insurance or reinsurance organizations is a plus
- Experience supporting internationally based or offshore employee populations.
- Strong, hands-on experience with employee relations and day-to-day HR operations.
- Solid working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
- Proven ability to work independently while partnering effectively in a global, matrixed environment.
- Strong judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
