This position provides data and analytical expertise to support actuarial services including trend analysis, financial projections, reporting and claim liability estimates. The analyst performs studies to support pricing and associated rate filings. This role develops actuarial models to support new products and provider payment arrangements.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
- Analyzes and summarizes data by applying mathematical, statistical and financial knowledge related to unpaid claim liability, forecasting and premium analysis.
- Conducts trend analysis and studies including tracking of industry trends and benchmarks.
- Develops pricing and analysis for new product development.
- Analyzes risk profiles of populations using predictive modeling techniques on both a concurrent and prospective basis.
- Analyzes completed work for accuracy, reasonableness and actuarial soundness. Troubleshoot processes and resolve complex issues.
- Conducts competitive market research regarding plan offerings, pricing and market share.
- Assists in the preparation and evaluation of special actuarial projects.
- Analyzes large claims and the impact to financial results.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to appropriately adjust communication for the audience.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to think logically and perform analysis in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar background in quantitative analysis.
Qualifications (Preferred)
Preferred
- Knowledge of the Utah healthcare market preferred.
- One to two actuarial exams or equivalent experience.
- Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
