Hiring Unit:
Department of Biology (Professor Jon Sakata)
Position Summary:
- Participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments, including behavioral and immunocytochemical studies.
- Participates in small animal handling and husbandry.
- Assists with maintaining records of breeding colonies and monitoring bird health.
- Assists with recording results, performing calculations, and compiling data.
- Assists with maintaining laboratory records and files.
- Contributes to equipment maintenance, performs minor repairs, and coordinates servicing as required.
- Participates in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the work area.
- Assists with ensuring compliance with safety regulations related to the use of laboratory equipment.
- Assists in ensuring the proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Assists in maintaining inventory and supporting the procurement of equipment and materials.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
- Attention to detail
- Proficiency with Excel, Google sheets, or related.
- Available on weekends.
- Must be approved by the Work Study Program, McGill University.
Education/Experience:
- Experience working with live animals.
- Training in wet lab procedures (e.g., histology, tissue sectioning).
- Background in biology, psychology, neuroscience and/or behavior.
Location: This position is located in Montreal, Quebec and the work for this position is expected to be performed in Quebec.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # (4) qualifier on a scale of 0-4.
