Job Description

Key Result Areas / Outputs

Finance, Risk Reporting and Capital:

Forms part of a high-performing team to prepare and review results, including soundness of reserves, capital and other metrics and ensure the reporting is produced with appropriate supporting analysis and commentary.

Business Insights:

Extract insights and understand the drivers of key financial metrics for business consideration.

Business Planning/Forecasting/Monthly Reporting: 

Produce information for monthly reporting and forecasting and ongoing monitoring of the financial impacts of the business strategy.

Business Partnering:

Effectively collaborate with business and other specialized areas such as Accounting, Product Development and Balance Sheet Management.

Reporting Capability: 

Ensure processes and models are efficient, robust and fit for purpose.  Drive synergies, standardization and continuous improvement and ensure the control environment is adequate and effective.

Projects:

Support the delivery of relevant project objectives as and when these arise

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Actuarial student with good exam progress
  • At least 2 years actuarial experience
  • Strong technical skills and attention to detail
  • Financial reporting and/or valuation experience would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of Prophet and/or Phyton would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of Personal Finance environment, products and systems would be advantageous

An exciting opportunity exists within the Personal Finance Actuarial Risk team offering exposure to an interesting combination of technical and business issues.  The role is responsible for producing the financial results for published and regulatory reporting for one of Old Mutual’s largest risk products, as well as to extract insights for business consideration.
