Senior Analyst, Transaction Tax Audit

The Senior Analyst, Transaction Tax Audit is a member of the Transaction Tax Audit team within the Finance organization that represents T-Mobile in state and local transaction tax audits. This role works with transaction taxes, such as sales/use tax and various telecom taxes, and not income or property taxes.
This is a hybrid role and does require 3 days in office every week.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of transaction tax audits from notice to closure
• Determine what auditors need and ensure audits are conducted in accordance with applicable laws
• Compile and analyze large datasets from multiple sources
• Reconcile complex telecom and transaction tax returns for multiple tax types and jurisdictions
• Analyze state and local transaction tax statutes and regulations to determine their application to T-Mobile’s goods and services
• Communicate and negotiate with auditors throughout the audit process
• Prepare reports on audit findings and recommendations to senior management

Education and Work Experience

• 3+ years of transaction tax experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or similar field

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work independently as well as successfully collaborate with others
• Ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple threads of work without supervision
• Ability to maintain composure and productivity while managing audits that can be adversarial at times
• Ability to research and interpret complex tax law issues
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Detail and deadline oriented
• Proficient in Excel and Alteryx or other data analytics tools

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Experience managing or conducting tax audits
• Experience with telecom taxes
• Background in the wireless telecommunications industry
• Knowledge of Oracle ERP
• Experience with Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or other AI models

• At least 18 years of age
• Legally authorized to work in the United States

Total Target Cash Earnings Opportunity: $102,120 - $184,230

National Base Pay Range: $88,800 - $160,200

The Total Target Cash Earnings Opportunity represents the expected total cash compensation for this role at target performance, combining base salary and annual incentive opportunity. Actual earnings may be higher or lower depending on individual performance and overall company results. 

The base pay range reflects the compensation component of this opportunity. The candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range. At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on individual and/or company performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
