You will be helping to ensure that the innovative solutions our business partners build for clients adhere to applicable rules, regulations, and policies.
You will handle projects that drive process improvements and/or pivotal initiatives across the compliance program that meet the objectives of the team and deliver value to the business. A role may be offered at the appropriate grade based on experience and level of expertise.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring

- Experience in retirement plan operations, compliance, project management, risk management, or a related control function.
- Solid understanding of retirement plan compliance requirements and regulatory rules and agencies including ERISA, Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, and related guidance, is preferred.
- Experience supporting workplace retirement products or services, including defined contribution, defined benefit, non-qualified, tax-exempt, pooled employer plan, or directed record-keeper services.
- Experience reviewing, updating, or maintaining compliance policies, procedures, process documentation, controls, job aids, or playbooks.
- Program or project management experience, including coordinating work across organizational lines and driving open items to conclusion.
- Flexibility and the ability to influence, contribute to, and learn from teams within the compliance function.
- Curiosity and sound judgment, including a willingness to ask questions, learn the business, and connect regulatory requirements to practical business processes.
- Strong attention to detail, capable of identifying gaps, inconsistencies, emerging risks, and following up on items that require resolution.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills, including a consistent track record to identify, analyze, and help resolve problems independently while escalating matters (i.e., DARN) when appropriate.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, demonstrating capability to build trusted partner relationships across Product, Legal, Risk, Operations, and Compliance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, allowing for clear and effective presentation of ideas, risks, decisions, and sophisticated information across multiple channels.
- Ability to respond to shifting priorities while maintaining progress on regularly scheduled work, risk matters, exception requests, procedure updates, and project commitments.
- Ability to plan and implement work in a timely manner by delivering on objectives, managing partner expectations, and driving projects to conclusion.
- Microsoft Office suite of applications, including SharePoint, are some of the many tools in your toolbox.
- Providing compliance guidance to product teams throughout the product and service lifecycle, including opining on requirements, review and approval of internal and external materials, implementation, roll-out, and post-launch governance.
- Helping identify regulatory compliance risks and translating requirements, guidance, and compliance expectations into practical recommendations for business partners.
- Supporting risk incidents by assisting with regulatory impact analysis, remediation actions, stakeholder updates, and identification of recurring themes or control gaps.
- Reviewing, updating, and maintaining compliance procedures and related process documentation to support consistency, transparency, and audit readiness.
- Communicating project status, issues, recommendations, and deliverables to internal partners so interested parties understand progress, decisions needed and their role in moving work forward.
- Coordinating written responses to regulator and court inquiries or internal inquiries as appropriate.
- Providing decision support to review and resolve compliance issues that arise in the course of record-keeping WI plans and support timely escalation where vital.
- Developing improved reporting, driving visibility, and measurement of compliance program effectiveness.
- Managing and delivering compliance projects. Some tasks include tracking landmarks, dependencies, decisions, risks, and stakeholder commitments.
- Supporting the monitoring, review, and dissemination of requirements of new/modified laws, regulations, and other applicable guidance.
- Building trusted relationships with business and control partners by being responsive, thoughtful, risk-aware, and passionate about finding effective answers.
The Team
We lead compliance readiness activities for new legal regulations and requirements. We also support the many products and services offered to workplace clients and participants. This includes directed recordkeeping services and support for defined contribution, defined benefit, non-qualified, tax exempt, pooled employer, and other retirement plan offerings, as applicable, as well as ancillary services such as our emergency savings product, Goal Booster and Financial Wellness coaching.
Our team engages with the business across client-facing, participant-facing, operations, and product management functions, just to name a few. We also work closely with Legal and Risk partners to help our business partners achieve their strategic objectives in a compliant manner, protecting our customers and Fidelity.
