Responsibilities

 

Peraton is hiring for a Mainframe Service Delivery Manager to support the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR).The successful candidate will provide operational and technical leadership across 14 IBM mainframes – 9 located at the Austin Data Center (ADC) and 5 located at the San Angelo Data Center (SDC).

 

This role is responsible for IBM mainframe operations, production control, batch scheduling, system software management, technical support, infrastructure currency, MIPS/CPU consumption tracking, networking, software procurement coordination, disaster recovery, and support for mainframe application replatforming to modern platforms.

 

Candidates must be local to the Austin and San Angelo Area or willing to relocate.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain overall accountability for mainframe technology and service delivery across all 14 mainframes:
    • 9 at the Austin Data Center (ADC)
    • 5 at the San Angelo Data Center (SDC)
  • Lead IBM mainframe operations, production control, and batch scheduling management.
  • Manage mainframe system software, technical support, and currency maintenance.
  • Track and report MIPS/CPU consumption.
  • Manage mainframe networking.
  • Coordinate mainframe software procurement activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, test, and execute mainframe disaster recovery activities.
  • Assist DIR customers with mainframe application replatforming to modern platforms.
  • Support migration and modernization activities involving mainframe and cloud/hybrid environments.
  • Ensure appropriate CJIS, IRS Publication 1075, and data security compliance for mainframe-hosted applications.
  • Coordinate mainframe service delivery across the Austin and San Angelo data center environments.
  • Maintain operational stability, availability, performance, and technical currency across the mainframe environment.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • 10 years of experience, may have supervisory or lead experience
  • 8+ years of IBM mainframe operations experience in production government environments.
  • Government mainframe operations experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience with IBM z/OS systems administration and system software management.
  • Experience with production control and batch scheduling, including:
    • CA7
    • TWS/OPC
    • Equivalent enterprise batch scheduling platforms
  • Experience with mainframe networking, including:
    • VTAM/NCP
    • TCP/IP on z/OS
  • Demonstrated experience with mainframe disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
  • Strong understanding of IBM mainframe production operations and enterprise service delivery.
  • Experience supporting complex, highly regulated or government mainframe environments.
  • Ability to manage mainframe operations across multiple data center locations.
  • Strong technical leadership, operational management, incident resolution, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen

 

Preferred Qualifications:

The following qualifications are strongly preferred:

  • Experience with mainframe application replatforming.
  • Experience with mainframe-to-cloud migration.
  • Experience operating in hybrid mainframe/cloud environments.
  • Experience assisting customers with modernization of legacy mainframe applications and workloads.
  • Experience with modern cloud platforms and integration of mainframe environments with cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting large-scale government mainframe modernization initiatives.

Preferred Certifications:

  • IBM Certified Systems Operator (z/OS) or equivalent preferred
  • IBM z/OS System Programmer certification preferred

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
