Who We Are
At CORE-CSI, we're on a mission to help organizations turn strategy into real, measurable action-faster and smarter. Headquartered in Sterling, VA, we're a fast-growing small business empowering government agencies, nonprofits, and consultants through digital platforms, practical tools, and expert training. Our flagship product, Core-Strategy, is a cutting-edge Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) SaaS platform that helps clients transform plans into results.
About the Role
We're looking for a strategy and performance management expert to fill a hybrid role spanning two distinct functions: internal product direction for Core-Strategy's Strategic Planning and Execution software and client-facing strategy consulting. This is a rare combination - someone who can both translate deep methodology expertise into platform design decisions and advise clients on strategy execution.
Responsibilities
Product Direction & Platform Development (Current Need)
Contribute to product direction for Core-Strategy's Strategic Planning and Execution platform
Serve as the internal subject matter expert across Core-Strategy's modules - Balanced Scorecard, OKRs, KPI Development & Reporting, Business Architecture, PMO/Project & Portfolio Management, and IASP methodology
Translate strategy management methodology into feature design, UI/UX decisions, and platform enhancements
Partner directly with designers and developers to prioritize and shape platform features
Strategy Consulting & Client Engagement (Future Scope)
Lead and facilitate strategy development, execution, and evaluation efforts for clients
Apply best practices in enterprise strategy, performance management, and portfolio management
Develop and deliver training, conduct software demonstrations, and support client engagements
Author thought leadership content and support business development initiatives
Collaborate with stakeholders across government, nonprofit, and commercial environments
Qualifications
Product & Platform Experience
Demonstrated ability to translate abstract methodology into concrete product requirements, UI decisions, or platform features
Experience working alongside product or engineering teams - comfort giving design/product feedback, not just methodology guidance
Strategy & Methodology Expertise
Proven experience in strategy consulting, management consulting, or project/portfolio management
Deep expertise in:
Enterprise strategy and business capabilities management (BIZBOK)
Balanced Scorecard (BSC) methodology
KPI development, benchmarking, and reporting
Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
Project and portfolio management
Excellent facilitation, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to translate complex strategic concepts into clear, engaging training and guidance
Education
Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred (Business, Public Administration, or related field)
Preferred Experience
Experience supporting state/local government, education, or nonprofit sector clients
Direct experience with strategic planning and execution software
