Description

  • Join Te Aho o Te Kahu to lead meaningful, equity‑focused cancer care projects that shape better outcomes for our region and Aotearoa

  • Auckland based | Full-time

  • Fixed term until 30 June 2027

  • Salary range of  $97,607 -  $130,142 (midpoint $108,452) – Appointed salary dependent on experience

Ko ake mahi - What you’ll do

Make a real difference where it counts. As a Project Manager with Te Aho o Te Kahu | Cancer Control Agency in the Northern Hub, you’ll be involved in a broad range of impactful national projects and regional initiatives that lift cancer outcomes across our region and nationally. You’ll bring structure, pace and partnership to an all‑of‑system approach - working alongside Māori, cancer leadership groups, communities, clinicians and sector partners to co‑design and deliver changes that improve equity and experience. If you’re a practical doer with strong stakeholder skills and a passion for better cancer outcomes, this is work you’ll be proud of.

  • Contribute to the delivery of regional and national initiatives - planning, sequencing and driving execution, while generating clear insights to inform prioritisation and decision‑making.

  • Own the end‑to‑end project lifecycle - from scoping and planning through estimating and budgeting, scheduling, design, development and implementation - with disciplined reporting and visibility of progress.

  • Proactively manage delivery risks - surfacing risks, issues and dependencies early and putting in place practical mitigations and recovery actions to keep work on track.

  • Partner widely to co‑design and co‑deliver - build strong, positive relationships across Te Aho o Te Kahu, the Ministry of Health, Health New Zealand clinicians (primary and secondary), the wider health sector, government partners and communities, including active engagement with regional Māori.

Ko pūkenga - What you’ll bring

  • Relevant tertiary training or equivalent experience, with a solid track record delivering multiple projects in fast‑moving environments.

  • Confidence to navigate the health sector, applying strong end‑to‑end project management skills to complex, system‑level work.

  • The ability to communicate and organise with impact - able to translate information into clear plain‑language messages and keep work structured and flowing.

  • Experience building strong, trusting relationships across diverse stakeholders and lead cross‑functional teams with ease and professionalism.
