The CAD Automation Engineer will be based in Hyderabad. In this position, you will report to the Manager, Project Engineering. We are looking for a highly motivated AutoCAD Automation Engineer with a Mechanical or Civil Engineering background to join our Project Engineering Team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in AutoCAD customization, VBA/.NET scripting, and workflow automation for engineering drawings. You will work closely with design teams to streamline CAD operations, reduce manual drafting time, and integrate intelligent automation into project deliverables. Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do…
- Develop, maintain, and enhance custom AutoCAD tools and scripts using Auto LISP, VBA, and/or .NET (C#/VB.NET).
- Automate routine drafting tasks, standardize drawing templates, and support data-driven drawing generation.
- Collaborate with Mechanical and Civil Engineering teams to understand project workflows and identify automation opportunities.
- Integrate AutoCAD automation with external data sources such as Excel, databases, or Tracker design tools (e.g., Standalone tools, Cloud tools etc.).
- Support the deployment and documentation of AutoCAD automation tools across global teams
- Work with QA and end users to validate output quality and iterate enhancements.
- Provide training or onboarding sessions to team members on tool usage and best practices.
- undefinedHere is some of what you’ll need (required):Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Civil Engineering or a related technical field.3+ years of experience in AutoCAD customization or CAD automation.Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Mechanical or Civil, including both 2D and 3D drafting/modelling.Thorough knowledge of AutoCAD commands, shortcuts, and best practices.Proficiency in one or more of the following: Auto LISP, VBA, .NET API for AutoCAD, COM / ActiveX API for AutoCAD, or Python scripting with AutoCAD I/O.Solid understanding of AutoCAD standards, layer management, dimensioning, blocks, and templates.Familiarity with engineering design processes and CAD standards used in renewable energy, infrastructure, or construction projects.Experience integrating CAD tools with Excel, SQL databases, or PLM systems is a plus.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent communication and documentation skills. Here are a few of our preferred experiences:· Experience working in Auto CAD Mechanical, or Civil 2D/3D environments is a strong advantage.· Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodology.· Understanding of Power BI, JIRA, or version control systems (e.g., Git) is a bonus.· Prior experience supporting cross-functional teams across geographies (e.g., US, India, Mexico).· Cloud Platform Experience (Optional):· Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services, especially in the context of:· Cloud-based storage and deployment of CAD tools· Azure DevOps pipelines for automation scripting· Azure File Shares or Blob Storage for CAD data management.· Ability to collaborate with software teams on cloud-hosted automation tools or APIs.
