Production Cutting Room Lead – First Shift
Schedule: Evening Shift, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM
Position Summary
The Production Lead provides hands-on leadership and directs the daily work of production employees while maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive work environment. This position supports employees throughout the shift, monitors equipment performance, reinforces company procedures, and helps ensure production goals and quality expectations are consistently achieved.
The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of food-production equipment, safety procedures, plant operations, and basic maintenance practices. This position works in a refrigerated food-manufacturing environment with beef, chicken, and pork products.
Essential Responsibilities

Direct and provide guidance to production employees in the performance of their daily responsibilities.

Assign and coordinate work to support production schedules, efficiency, quality, and safety expectations.

Ensure departmental work is completed safely and in accordance with company safety standards and procedures.

Train employees on general production procedures and equipment-specific cutting processes.

Monitor production equipment to ensure proper operation and performance.

Help maintain equipment in proper working condition and promptly report equipment or maintenance concerns.

Confirm that appropriate operating settings are used on cutters, hoppers, shakers, conveyors, fryers, and packaging equipment.

Document changes made to processing-equipment settings.

Accurately maintain records of equipment downtime, setting changes, material usage, consumables, and actual daily weight loss.

Follow and reinforce all departmental Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and food-safety requirements.

Serve as backup to the Department Manager during their absence.

Communicate production, staffing, safety, quality, and equipment concerns promptly to the appropriate manager or department.

Maintain a professional, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous food-production or manufacturing experience preferred.

Working knowledge of food-production equipment, workplace safety procedures, plant operations, and basic maintenance practices.

Ability to lead, train, motivate, and provide clear direction to production employees.

Strong verbal communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
-
Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Experience operating a pallet jack.

Ability and willingness to learn to operate a forklift.
-
Ability to work in a refrigerated production environment and around beef, chicken, and pork products.

Ability to work the scheduled evening shift from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
