NE06Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation and execution of labs and simulation scenarios for the Nursing Department.MAJOR DUTIES
- Meets w/directors and faculty to discuss needs of simulation scenarios.
- Assists in preparing and executing simulation scenarios for nursing classes; operates a variety of nursing simulation equipment.
- Maintains and calibrates equipment, manikins and other resources for nursing skill labs and clinical simulation activities.
- Assists in preparing and executing nursing skill labs; prepares necessary equipment and rooms.
- Assures that all equipment in each simulation is in proper working order.
- Creates lab supply bags for students; ensures students obtain proper supplies for skills kits.
- Maintains inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies; makes purchases as needed.
- Maintains clean laundry and carts, according to hospital standards.
- Orders necessary supplies and stocks labs with such supplies.
- Monitors students while in the lab.
- Prints weekly lab calendars.
- Assists in maintaining student database.
- Performs related duties.

- Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of nursing laboratory and simulation equipment and tools.
- Knowledge of nursing skill supplies.
- Knowledge of sanitary cleaning principles.
- Knowledge of college purchasing policies and procedures.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Nursing Lab and Simulation Coordinator assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- The work consists of related instructional and technical duties. Strict deadlines contribute to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to assist in coordinating nursing lab and simulation activities for nursing classes. Success in this position results in the efficient and effective provision of instruction to students.

- Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, faculty, staff, students, vendors, and members of the general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to provide services, or to motivate or influence persons.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping or walking. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
- The work is typically performed in an office or laboratory. The employee is exposed to machinery with moving parts, contagious or infectious diseases, and irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
None.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
