This Business Unit FP&A Analyst position is located in Bengaluru, India, and reports to the Team Lead, BU FP&A Capability under the Controlling Practices and Operations (Finance COE) organization. The role supports Hitachi Energy’s global Business Units, Hubs (Regions), Global Product Groups (GPGs), Countries, and Operating Units, serving as a finance partner to business and finance stakeholders to drive financial performance, forecasting accuracy, reporting excellence, and operational insights.

Key Responsibilities
Perform analysis of business performance versus Budget, Flash, Forecast, Latest Estimate, prior Quarter, and Prior Year.
Consolidate, challenge, and validate forecasts received from project, business, country, and factory stakeholders, ensuring consistency of assumptions, forecasts, and financial outlooks across the designated BU, Hub, or product group.
Support monthly forecasting, budgeting, and planning processes.
Monitor and analyze Order Backlog, Revenue, Gross Margin, EBIT, SG&A, Headcount, Productivity, Working Capital, Cash Flow, and Capex.
Prepare monthly management reporting packs, KPI dashboards, executive presentations, and variance analysis.
Support month-end close activities. These include validating the accuracy, integrity, and completeness of financial actual KPIs in reporting tools Vs system reports, identifying, escalating, and resolving gaps, consolidating estimates from factories and countries at the Hub or product group level, preparing preliminary updates to stakeholders in a time-bound manner, including preparing and posting manual journal entries and intercompany postings.
Perform Balance sheet analysis – proactively identify P&L and Balance Sheet accounting impacts, contract assets and liabilities, inventory, and net working capital movements between different periods with the reasons for deviation and advise controllers for necessary action.
Analyze Cash Flow, Inventory, and Net Working Capital performance and provide insights
Support product, project, customer, factory, and business profitability analysis.
Partner with cross-functional teams including Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, commercial and wider finance teams.
Perform trend analysis, scenario modeling, and ad hoc financial analysis.
Support audits, controls, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Analyze overhead /labor under/over absorption, material standard cost variances, and identify root causes and corrective actions.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong financial accounting and revenue recognition methods (Point in time, Percentage of Completion, Time-based, etc.)
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with proactive, self-motivated, and problem-solving abilities.
Good Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and PowerPoint skills
Ability to use and leverage AI – good AI literacy is a strong plus.
Effective communication & presentation skills.
Good understanding of SAP S/4HANA is highly desired, including FICO, CO-PA, SD, PP, MM; highly desired.
Initiative-taking with a strong commitment to quality, adhering to strict deadlines
Experience:
2 to 4 years’ experience in Financial Planning and Analysis, with a preferable manufacturing background. prior experience in controlling COE setup preferable
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting with CMA/ CA / MBA Finance
