Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director and working alongside the Tourism Manager, the tourism engagement coordinator plans and implements tourism initiatives, manages marketing efforts, and serves as a liaison between local businesses and visitors. Key responsibilities include developing promotional materials, coordinating group tours, managing social media and website content, event coordination and calendaring and tracking performance metrics. This position requires strong interpersonal skills to help build partnerships with local stakeholders and provide visitor services.
Essential Duties:
- Marketing and promotion: Demonstrated experience creating, updating, and optimizing tourism- related digital content across destination websites, event calendars, social media platforms, Google Business/Profile tools, and partner-facing communications.
- Website Content Management: Maintain website business listings and content. Work directly with stakeholders, including businesses and event promoters, to make sure listings are up to date. Partnership development: Collaborate with local businesses, organizations, and government agencies such as Arizona Office of Tourism, Prescott Chamber Visitor Center, and Prescott Downtown Partnership to enhance the visitor experience and increase tourism.
- Working knowledge of the City of Prescott's Special Event Application and Permitting Process, including Special Events Committee reviews, department coordination, and event organizer communication.
- Visitor services: Work with the Chamber Visitor Center to provide materials for front-line customer support and manage promotional material fulfillment.
- Event support: Working with Tourism Manager, assisting with the planning and implementation of tourism-related events and activities.
Administrative tasks:
- Handle account payables/receivables for Tourism and Economic Development, track budget expenditures, and create inter-departmental business travel itineraries.
- Support the administration of Tourism Advisory Committee (TAC) Grant and sponsorship programs, including applications tracking, contract coordination, budget documentation, and communication with award recipients.
- Work with Tourism Manager and Director to generate agendas and document minutes for Tourism Advisory Committee Meetings.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required, and three (3) years of experience in marketing, tourism, hospitality or a related field or any combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform the work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Business, Public Administration, Economic Development, Marketing, Recreation, or other closely related field preferred or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Must have a valid AZ driver's license within thirty (30) days of employment. A valid passport is required to attend occasional international events. Must be able to work occasional non-traditional working hours and weekends.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Clearly, concisely and effectively communicate in person and over the telephone
- Moving, lifting and setting up large displays, and printed materials.
- Effectively and safely perform required duties and to safely operate required equipment and City
- vehicle as needed.
- Work is performed in a normal City office environment.
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Operate a variety of standard office equipment including a computer, telephone, calculator, copy and
- fax machines requiring continuous and repetitive arm, hand, and eye movement.
- Travel to/from meetings and various locations including overnight and out of state as necessary.
- Attend evening and weekend meetings as necessary.
