Clinical Medical Director – Primary Care
Location: Oswego, New York
Schedule: Full-Time
Position Overview
A well-established healthcare organization is seeking a Clinical Medical Director (MD/DO) to lead clinical operations at an outpatient primary care clinic in Oswego, New York.
This is an outpatient primary care leadership opportunity offering an excellent work/life balance, with no nights or weekends. The Medical Director will oversee clinical operations while also providing direct patient care, including preventive medicine and chronic disease management.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide direct primary care, including diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, and chronic disease management
- Oversee day-to-day clinical operations of the outpatient clinic
- Ensure high-quality clinical outcomes and adherence to established clinical guidelines
- Review patient charts and clinical documentation to maintain quality standards
- Monitor clinic performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
- Lead, mentor, coach, and support clinical staff
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention of healthcare professionals
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on patient volume and clinical needs
- Collaborate with administrative and clinical leadership to improve patient care and clinic operations
- Support patient enrollment, retention, scheduling, and follow-up initiatives
- Participate in community outreach and patient engagement activities
- Support quality improvement and strategic clinical initiatives
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and patient-focused work environment
- Address clinical, patient, and staff concerns in a timely and effective manner
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Minimum 4 years of clinical practice experience
- Previous healthcare management or medical leadership experience preferred
- Valid, unrestricted U.S. medical license
- Current, unrestricted DEA registration
- Current BLS certification; ACLS certification as required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and standard computer systems
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary: $270,000–$280,000, based on experience
