Position Summary


Regulatory liaison across multiple jurisdictions and operational business areas (natural gas, electric distribution, transmission and energy supply). Foster a culture of cross-collaboration, curiosity, personal accountability, outcome driven and customer focus. Responsible for supporting Operating Company success by facilitating needs from Operating Company regulatory functions of the Integrated System Planning and Operations teams. Ensure collaboration and a healthy working relationship with the operational leadership of Xcel Energy’s distribution, transmission, energy supply and gas business operations areas across service territories encompassing over 3 million electric customers and 2 million natural gas customers.  This role will also focus on increasing coordination and optimization among Operating Company teams and driving the adoption of best practices and efficiencies across teams in connection with regulatory strategy, execution, and stakeholder outreach.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and effectively implement a consolidated regulatory calendar to support the Operating Company’s strategic objectives in connection with planning, policy, and resource transition proceedings. b. Direct the development and execution of all such regulatory case filings detailed project plans in each assigned jurisdiction. c. Lead the coordination and execution of operations regulatory interaction and facilitation of successful participation d. Design, develop, manage, and execute clear, consistent, and timely communications across and outside our group e. Provide clear and effective communication of the organization’s vision, mission and key objectives to support achievement of goals. 

  • Responsible and accountable to champion, develop, deliver, and lead a centralized discovery tracking process ensuring all deadlines are met. b. Operates within designated ISP budget c. Responsible for successfully managing postmortem debriefs/lessons learned process with ISP, Operations and Regulatory relaying key outcomes, decisions and impacts to subject matter experts across all Xcel Energy jurisdictions. d. Ensure execution of team to budget is successful e. No regulatory deadlines are missed and high Operating Company satisfaction with team’s participation f. Coordinate and lead various operations committees to ensure high connectivity between ISP, Operations and Regulatory.

  • Responsible for attracting, recruiting and retaining a highly motivated and engaged workforce. Establish and communicate clear performance expectations to team. Foster a culture of personal accountability, employee safety and individual development. 

  • Establish and maintain healthy and successful relationships with Operations leadership, Operating Company and Corporate leadership. Develop and maintain effective relationships with other jurisdictional and corporate peers, to ensure timely, effective information sharing and business learning as well as common best practices implementation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s in Business Administration preferred or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.

  • Minimum of 7 years utility experience, with at least 3 years management experience.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to implement projects that cross organizations, business units and professional disciplines, supporting culture change and building business acumen.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of gas, electric distribution, transmission and energy supply business area functions and understanding of regulatory requirements and their business and operational implications.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $148,400.00 to $210,733.00 per year
