Water Infrastructure Regional Manager - South Central RegionMueller Water Products, a leading manufacturer of products and solutions for water and gas distribution infrastructure, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Water Infrastructure Regional Manager – South Central to lead sales performance, customer engagement, and market development across the region.
Reporting to the Vice President of Infrastructure Sales – West, the Regional Manager will provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for the South Central sales organization, with responsibility for Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico.
This is a highly visible leadership position responsible for driving profitable growth, developing and coaching the regional sales team, strengthening distributor and end-user relationships, expanding Mueller's specification position, and executing the company's broader commercial strategy throughout the South Central market.
The Regional Manager will have responsibility across Mueller Water Products' Water Infrastructure portfolio with focus on the Mueller Co. product lines.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Sales Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute regional sales strategies, objectives, and action plans aligned with annual revenue, bookings, profitability, and market-share goals.
- Establish clear goals and expectations for individual territories and ensure alignment with overall regional and company objectives.
- Monitor regional and territory performance against established objectives and implement appropriate actions when performance falls below expectations.
- Identify market trends, competitive activity, customer needs, and growth opportunities and translate those insights into actionable sales strategies.
- Maintain disciplined forecasting and pipeline management to improve visibility, accountability, and forecast accuracy.
- Partner with senior sales leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure regional priorities align with Mueller Water Products' broader strategic objectives.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable assigned sales professionals throughout the South Central Region.
- Establish a high-performance culture focused on accountability, customer engagement, teamwork, and execution.
- Conduct regular territory and performance reviews to evaluate progress against sales objectives, strategic priorities, and individual development goals.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development to strengthen selling capabilities, commercial acumen, product knowledge, and customer relationships.
- Support talent development and succession planning by identifying and developing high-potential employees within the region.
Customer & Market Development
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key distributors, utilities, municipalities, engineers, contractors, and other strategic customers throughout the region.
- Work closely with sales personnel and channel partners to identify and capture opportunities for profitable growth.
- Promote Mueller's existing and new products within the end-user and engineering communities to strengthen specification positions and increase market penetration.
- Develop regional strategies to expand Mueller's presence in underserved markets, product categories, and customer segments.
- Serve as an executive-level commercial resource for strategic customers and channel partners.
Commercial & Financial Management
- Evaluate significant project and bid opportunities and develop pricing recommendations designed to maximize revenue, profitability, and competitive position.
- Maintain strong commercial discipline around pricing, discounting, customer programs, and other financial considerations.
- Analyze regional sales, bookings, profitability, market share, and other key performance indicators to identify opportunities and areas requiring corrective action.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to address customer concerns involving service, product availability, delivery performance, pricing, and product quality.
- Support the resolution of significant product complaints and customer claims while balancing customer relationships with Mueller's commercial interests.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Product Management, Marketing, Pricing, Customer Service, Quality, Finance, and other internal teams to support regional objectives and customer requirements.
- Communicate market intelligence and Voice of Customer feedback to appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Represent the South Central Region in company sales reviews, strategic planning sessions, and other leadership forums.
- Champion company initiatives and ensure effective communication and execution throughout the regional sales organization.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive sales, sales management, or related commercial experience.
- Demonstrated success leading sales performance, developing customer relationships, and executing commercial strategies.
- Strong understanding of sales management principles, pricing strategy, forecasting, territory management, and channel development.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold teams accountable for results.
- Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to analyze data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and operate in a fast-paced, geographically dispersed sales environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned region and domestically as business needs require.
- Candidate must reside within the assigned South Central Region with reasonable access to a major commercial airport. The Dallas / Fort-Worth or Houston areas are the preferred locations for candidates.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred. Significant relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Previous leadership experience within the waterworks, municipal infrastructure, construction, industrial, or related markets strongly preferred.
- Experience working with distribution channels, municipalities, utilities, engineers, and contractors preferred.
- Knowledge of Mueller Water Products' markets, products, customers, and competitive landscape is a plus.
