Hexcel is currently seeking a R&D Lab Technician II for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
- Perform routine and non-routine tasks in support of carbon fiber pilot plant operations.
- Conduct laboratory analyses and testing as directed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation within pilot plant operations.
- Evaluate new processes and methods, utilizing sound judgment to support research and product development objectives.
- Develop and maintain documentation for new processes, procedures, and operational improvements.
- Maintain laboratory and pilot plant equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Operate in compliance with all Hexcel Salt Lake City environmental policies and regulations.
- Work overtime as required to support operational and project needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, research, laboratory, or testing environment; (or at least 3 years of carbon fiber manufacturing experience-strongly preferred) .
- Ability to work four 10-hour swing shifts, Tuesday through Friday, with limited overtime and some schedule flexibility preferred.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability, technical aptitude, and innovation in a manufacturing or R&D laboratory setting.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn and apply new processes, procedures, and technologies.
- Basic computer proficiency and math skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently and up to 80 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring a full range of motion, including overhead reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, and turning.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and walk throughout the facility multiple times during a shift.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
