Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Central Business Services Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Payroll Senior Manager.
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide strategic and operational leadership for payroll delivery, time and labor administration, compliance, and payroll technology solutions across North America. This role is accountable for ensuring accurate and compliant payroll operations supporting more than 55,000 team members, leading a high-performing team of 30 team members, advancing continuous improvement and transformation initiatives, and delivering scalable solutions.
Reporting to the General Manager, Central Business Services, the person in this role will support the department’s objective to deliver exceptional payroll and time and labor services through operational excellence, compliance, innovation, and continuous improvement across North America.
This position is based in Plano, Texas. The selected candidate will be expected to reside within commutable distance of this location.
What you’ll be doing
Lead Payroll Operations and Service Delivery
Accountable for the accurate, timely, and compliant delivery of payroll services across North America through effective oversight of third-party providers, service performance, and internal controls. Provide governance for vendor relationships, including contract management, financial stewardship, service level agreements, and performance management to ensure business objectives are achieved and service expectations are consistently met.Lead and Develop the Payroll Organization
Lead and develop a high-performing team of payroll professionals and consultants through talent development, performance management, and continuous improvement.Oversee Payroll Operations Technology
Provide strategic governance for payroll and time & labor management systems, ensuring system integrity, regulatory compliance, operational stability, and alignment with evolving business needs.Drive Customer Experience and Issue Resolution
Lead payroll case management, issue resolution, and escalation processes, making timely pay-impacting decisions while leveraging data and root cause analysis to improve service delivery.Lead Payroll Transformation and Business Initiatives
Direct payroll, Time & Labor, and process improvement initiatives, including system implementations, automation, standardization efforts, and operational enhancements.Ensure Compliance, Risk Management, and Governance
Maintain accountability for payroll compliance, audit readiness, data governance, tax and garnishment administration, SOX controls, and regulatory requirements across supported jurisdictions.Shape Payroll Strategy and North America Roadmap
Develop and execute the payroll strategic roadmap, driving regional solutions, vendor strategy, cost competitiveness, and long-term service delivery transformation. Partner with stakeholders across HR, Finance, Legal, Tax, IT, and business operations to align priorities, influence decisions, and deliver sustainable business outcomes.
What you bring
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
Extensive progressive experience in payroll, time and labor, HR operations, finance operations, or a closely related field in a large, multi-state and multi-country organization, supporting 25,000+ employees.
Experience leading payroll operations, compliance activities, and service delivery within a large, complex organization.
Experience supporting payroll, HR, or time and labor technology platforms and related business initiatives.
Working knowledge of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, payroll taxation, garnishments, and compliance requirements across US and Canada.
Experience leading, managing, and developing a team of high performing payroll professionals.
Added bonus if you have
Experience supporting multi-country payroll and time and labor operations or regional service delivery models.
Experience supporting large hourly workforces and complex timekeeping environments.
Experience with enterprise payroll and workforce technologies such as UKG Pro, UKG Workforce Management (Kronos), Workday, or comparable solutions.
Experience leading payroll, HR, or time and labor technology implementations, upgrades, or transformation initiatives.
Experience leveraging automation, analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), robotic process automation (RPA), or self-service technologies to improve operational efficiency and employee experience.
