Description

At ING, procurement is about collaboration, innovation, and creating strategic impact that drives sustainable growth. We are a global organization in the CFO domain with a presence in more than 20 countries. We embed responsible practices, and deliver solutions that touch every part of the organization. If you thrive in a dynamic environment, approach challenges with curiosity, and want to help shape what’s next, this is your opportunity to make a real difference.

The Team

The Strategy & Excellence team is part of Global Procurement and is led by the Head of Strategy & Excellence, who reports directly to the Global Chief Procurement Officer (CPO). The team is responsible for shaping and driving Procurement's strategic agenda through key areas such as Strategy & Vision, Transformation & Change, ESG, Innovation & Technology, and Performance & Employee Experience.

In this role, you will join a team of senior (change) experts reporting to the Head of Strategy & Excellence. You will have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, shape the future direction of Procurement, and deliver meaningful impact on a global scale. You will work closely with the Global CPO, Procurement Leadership Team and senior stakeholders across ING.

The Role

As Lead Strategy & Vision, you will:

  • Lead and govern major strategic initiatives and transformation programs across the Procurement organization, ensuring successful delivery and achievement of intended outcomes.
  • Manage complex projects and workstreams, coordinating dependencies and ensuring alignment across related initiatives.
  • Drive change adoption through structured change management approaches that embed desired behaviours, ways of working, and culture.
  • Independently lead high-impact strategic initiatives, proactively identifying opportunities and delivering results.
  • Guide and influence both direct and indirect teams, fostering collaboration across multiple stakeholders and organizational boundaries.
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor, bringing clarity and direction to complex business challenges.
  • Provide strategic and tactical guidance to management, leveraging a deep understanding of the organization, the external environment, and industry best practices.
  • Support Category Management in developing and executing category strategies that contribute to Procurement's objectives.

In addition, you will:

  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of the Procurement strategy, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Act as the key liaison between Global Procurement and supporting functions across ING, ensuring alignment on strategic priorities, data capabilities, reporting requirements, and enabling initiatives.
  • Shape and drive Procurement's data and reporting strategy, translating business needs into actionable insights, performance reporting, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Leverage data, analytics and emerging technologies to strengthen decision-making, enhance performance transparency, and identify opportunities to increase Procurement's strategic impact.
  • Anticipate external trends, emerging technologies and market developments to inform Procurement's future direction.
  • Analyze ING's corporate strategy and identify implications and opportunities for the Procurement function.
  • Develop and maintain Procurement's strategic roadmap, including priorities, targets, KPIs, and success measures.
  • Own the portfolio of strategic initiatives and associated reporting, ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective financial oversight.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and overall impact of the Procurement function.

Strategic Challenges:

One of the key challenges in this role, and across the broader organisation, is supporting the transition from a business partner model to a category-focused approach. Success in this position will depend on the ability to support the embedding of category management practices, in close collaboration with local procurement teams, thereby unlocking strategic category opportunities. Importantly, this challenge extends beyond capability building in alignment with global direction; it also involves ensuring the consistent adoption and practical application of these capabilities across all locations.

Join us if you want to be part of the next chapter of procurement journey at ING.
