More about the role

This is an exciting job opportunity for you to light the way as a Plant Manager in our Saeta plant located in Valladolid, Spain with Signify.

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and strategic direction of the manufacturing site. Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing/Operations, the role drives operational excellence, business growth, digital transformation, safety, quality, and people development while ensuring compliance with Signify standards and local regulations.

In other words, this role oversees daily operations to ensure efficient production processes, and implements strategies to optimize resource utilization and maintain safety standards.

Strategic & Operational leadership

• Define and execute short- and long-term industrial and investment strategies aligned with business objectives.

• Lead all plant functions, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Finance, and HR.

• Drive operational excellence through Lean, TPM, continuous improvement, and digitization initiatives.

• Ensure efficient manufacturing and delivery operations while meeting quality, environmental, and legal requirements.

• Develop workforce flexibility to adapt to changing customer demand, labor availability, and supply constraints.

• Establish strong performance management routines and a culture of accountability and execution.

Safety, quality & compliance

• Champion a strong safety culture and act as a role model across all site activities, including contractors and outsourced operations.

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards.

• Maintain and continuously improve management systems such as ISO, FDA, and OHSAS.

• Uphold Signify’s Integrity Code, policies, values, and local legislation.

Business & Financial performance

• Deliver productivity, cost, quality, and profitability targets.

• Define and execute long-term cost reduction and productivity roadmaps.

• Manage plant budgets, resources, and investments to maximize operational efficiency.

• Improve performance in areas such as labor utilization, demand fluctuations, component availability, and order-book volatility.

• Support business growth and revenue expansion, including managing significant external sales activities.

Customer focus

• Build deep understanding of customer needs and translate insights into strategic and operational improvements.

• Ensure delivery of high-quality products and services that meet customer expectations.

• Monitor customer satisfaction (NPS) and implement improvement actions to enhance the customer experience.

• Develops and implements strategies to expand and maintain the customer base and increase sales revenue (~60% external sales).

Stakeholder & Relationship management

• Build strong partnerships with business units, functions, country organizations, suppliers, certification bodies, government entities, and employee representatives.

• Effectively manage union and works council relationships.

• Promote collaboration and best-practice sharing across sites and functions.

People leadership & culture

• Create an inclusive, transparent, ethical, and high-performance work environment.

• Lead, coach, develop, and inspire teams to achieve operational and business goals.

• Drive employee engagement, talent development, succession planning, and organizational capability building.

• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, recognition, and professional growth.

• Analyses production data to identify issues and implements corrective actions promptly.

More about you

While we value and appreciate all applicants, we believe that the following experience and skills will be needed to shine brightly in this job opening:

• Bachelor's or master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related technical field essential for understanding complex manufacturing processes and strategic planning.

• Minimum of 7-10 years of working experience in a manufacturing operations management role.

• Proven plant management leadership experience with responsibility for manufacturing, production, engineering, quality systems, safety, supply chain, finance, HR, continuous improvement initiatives, and purchasing functions.

• Mandatory certifications in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA), Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001), and Lean Six Sigma to ensure compliance, drive operational excellence, and lead transformation projects.

• Fluent in English as well as in Spanish.

• Outstanding people leadership skills, with experience building high-performing teams, developing talent, driving engagement, and managing succession planning.

• Robust business and financial acumen, including budget ownership, cost optimization, productivity roadmaps, P&L management, and strategic investment planning.

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including experience working with customers, unions/works councils, suppliers, government authorities, and senior business leaders.
