Position Summary:

The Nurse Manager is responsible for effectively managing the activities of the Women's and Children's Services; supervises the clinical team leaders as they direct and coordinate the daily operations and development of staff. The Nurse Manager utilizes knowledge of nursing practice and applies the management principles of planning, organizing, directing and evaluating quality of nursing practice and patient care, as prescribed by professional standards. Coordinates educational classes to meet the annual competency requirement of the staff.

What the Women's and Children's Services Manager will need:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Maintains current Georgia professional nursing license.  ACLS, BLS.
  • Membership in a professional organization preferred.
  • Education:  Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing, able to read and write English, Baccalaureate degree, Master’s Degree in Nursing or Business preferred. Certification in area of specialty preferred.
  • Experience:  Minimum of three to five years Women's and Children's experience, at least two, which were Supervisory experience. Demonstrates leadership ability with excellent performance ratings.

What the Women's and Children's Services Manager will do:

  • Make decisions within scope of practice and consistent with position authority.
  • Patient assignments reflect correct interpretation of role function for all staff levels and needs of patient, as measured by reflection of patient acuity in staffing decisions.
  • Establishes and maintains a safe environment for the patients and staff.
  • Outlines appropriate channels for communication and lines of authority for all staff, as evidenced by staff following appropriate chain of command.
