At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.

We are professionals with purpose, beating cancer every day. But we need to go much further and much faster. That’s why we’re looking for someone talented, someone who wants to develop their skills, someone like you.

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Legacy Operations Executive to help us deliver outstanding supporter experiences across our Legacy Proposition teams. Working collaboratively across departments, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our legacy operations run efficiently, maintaining high standards of data quality, financial administration and supporter service while helping to improve processes and drive operational excellence. You'll act with professionalism and care, building strong relationships with colleagues, supporters and external stakeholders to help maximise the impact of gifts left in Wills.

What will I be doing?

  • Deliver operational and administrative support across Legacy Proposition activities, ensuring processes run smoothly and efficiently.

  • Maintain accurate supporter, solicitor, financial and case management records across multiple systems, ensuring compliance with agreed standards and service levels.

  • Act as a key contact for legacy-related enquiries, resolving issues and providing support to internal stakeholders, supporters and external partners.

  • Support day-to-day financial administration, including income processing, payment queries, raising PO’s, receipting invoices and month-end activities.

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of Will Writing Service administrative tasks, ensuring accuracy and timely completion, including processing data, identifying & correcting data errors, resolving invoice queries and maintaining accurate records across systems.

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance data quality and support continuous operational improvements across the team.

  • Assist with shared team responsibilities, picking up core team tasks when required, e.g. to cover annual leave or sickness, and at particularly busy times

What are we looking for?

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and high-quality data.

  • Experience of financial administration and supporting financial processes.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships.

  • Strong IT skills, including extensive experience using Microsoft Office applications and CRM or database systems.

  • Knowledge of GDPR and data protection requirements, alongside proven problem-solving skills and the confidence to take initiative.

Our organisation values are designed to guide all that we do.

Act with ambition, courage and determination

Credible: Act with rigour and professionalism

Human: Act to have a positive impact on people

Together: Act inclusively and collaboratively

We’re looking for people who can believe in and embody these organisation values and can use them to drive forward progress against our mission to beat cancer.

If you’re interested in applying and excited about working with us but are unsure if you have the right skills and experience we’d still love to hear from you.

Eligibility criteria

Internal candidates should ideally have completed their 6-month ‘getting started’ period before applying for other roles. You should also advise your current line manager at the point you make an internal application, or at the latest, at the point of being invited for an interview.

All internal candidates applying for a secondment, must have:

  • completed their getting started period

  • discussed their intention to apply and gained approval to apply with their line manager

  • been in their substantive (home) role for at least 6 months (this is only applicable if you have previously been on secondment)

If you do not confirm that you meet these requirements, we will not be able to progress your application.
