Position Summary
An exciting opportunity for a Project Delivery Professional – EC&I - Submarines to join the team in Derby.
RRSL EC&I (Submarine Reactor Electrical Control & Instrumentation), Future Programmes DBU is responsible for Electrical Controls and Instrumentation development at the front end of the MoD CADMID project lifecycle (i.e. Concept, Assessment and Demonstration), with Manufacturing Engineering support provided across the whole project lifecycle as a centre of competence.
Within the business we provide EC&I skills across research and technology, system architecture, concept design at both system and component level, detail design (both internally and as the intelligent customer to design work within the supply chain), together with the associated design and safety justification work. Whilst predominantly in support of the Nuclear Steam Raising Plant within the Royal Navy’s future nuclear submarine fleet, the area also supports EC&I design and development on nuclear implicated Site control and instrumentation systems, as well as key non-nuclear rig or infrastructure systems.
The organisation is split in two: A Delivery focussed organisation, and a Chief Engineering organisation.
- The Delivery organisation captures the Delivery and Execution of our critical programmes, including Programme Management, External Supply Chain and Internal Engineering operations, through our Verification and Validation capability.
- The Chief Engineering organisation captures the EC&I system architecture and overall quality assurance.
The EC&I Dreadnought Programme is reaching a crucial stage for BT1 commissioning, and the new organisational structure that has been implemented over the course of 2026, provides exciting opportunities to make a real difference in business critical programme.
Running parallel to the Dreadnought Programme is SSNA, whereby the Programme team need to progress the strategic work in the Supply Chain to enact external activity and progress critical milestones.
What you will be doing:
- Working with the EC&I Power project team and key stakeholders to establish, develop and maintain project management documents & artefacts in executive systems in-line with change control i.e. PMP, WBS, SoW, BoE, Risk register.
- Accountable for the successful delivery to cost, specification and time for assigned packages of work in-line with business financial commitments.
- Support the creation and management of Supply Chain strategies for assigned work packages.
- Lead progress updates of the schedules with the relevant stakeholders.
- Report the status of assigned work in accordance with the requirements of the project.
- Monitor & review project data, identify and report trends, highlight anomalies and propose/implement corrective action if performance is outside specification.
- Ensure effective controls are implemented in accordance with the company processes to achieve the project success criteria and business financial processes.
- Facilitate and manage risk and opportunity activities.
- Support to project management improvements in conjunction with the Project Management Function.
- Lead project management governance IPT meetings, propose and make decisions (as appropriate), providing direction and ensuring any escalations are made to project leadership.
- Manage stakeholder and communications management activities.
- Create, maintain, and control of P6 schedules in line with the Planning and Scheduling Guidelines ensuring they accurately reflect the work scope, resources, and timescales.
- Support both immediate and wider team related improvement and engagement initiatives.

- Ideally attained Degree level qualification (in a relevant subject) or has equivalent industry experience.
- Attained, or working towards APM Project Management Qualification OR can demonstrate equivalent PM knowledge.
- Preferred but not required - working towards membership of Association of Project Management (AMAPM or MAPM).
- Demonstrate good experience of working & delivering in cross functional teams.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can demonstrate good analytical skills with an ability to analyse and interpret information from different sources.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, experience of SAP.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.
