York College of Pennsylvania, a competitive, comprehensive, private college in York, PA, seeks a highly collaborative, energetic, and team-oriented individual to serve as the Dean of the Dr. Donald E. and Lois J. Myers School of Nursing and Health Professions (MSNHP). One of four schools that comprise the academic structure of the College, the School boasts significant participation in undergraduate research, NCLEX pass rates greater than 95%, and exceptional placement rates. The School is a vibrant and engaged community of learning and service. A highly talented group of 25 full-time faculty, 105 part-time faculty, and 5 active full-time staff members in the School support more than 900 students enrolled in programs in exercise science
(BS), health science (BS), healthcare administration (BS), medical imaging (BS), laboratory science (BS), nursing (BSN, MSN, DNP), and therapeutic recreation & wellness (BS). The College seeks a dynamic candidate who is inspired by our exceptional students and will support their success by managing the academic programs, budgets, accreditation, fundraising, and assessment associated with the School. Embracing a creative and flexible mindset, the successful candidate will support student and faculty recruitment and retention initiatives while implementing novel partnerships within and beyond the College.
Reporting directly to the Provost, the Dean will provide vision and direction for strategic planning, budgeting, accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives, while partnering with other administrative leaders on fundraising, student recruitment, and community engagement activities. Through collaborative leadership, effective resource management, innovation, and strategic partnerships, the successful candidate will advance the School's and College’s missions and priorities while promoting academic excellence, student success, and organizational effectiveness. Preference will be given to candidates with experience managing program creation/development, accreditation, faculty development and/or clinical placements for
students at all degree levels within the School.
- Provide strategic leadership for the school's academic, administrative, financial, and operational functions.
- Oversee the School's budget, financial planning, and resource allocation.
- Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of the school's strategic plan.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, and applicable federal and state laws and regulations; when applicable, lead the School’s accreditation and reaffirmation efforts.
- Serve on Provost’s Council, Deans’ Council, and other institutional committees.
- Provide leadership and oversight for academic programs, curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement through data-informed decision-making.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and support for faculty and staff, including recruitment, professional development, performance evaluation, and retention.
- Advance academic excellence by promoting student success, retention, enrollment growth, experiential learning, and career readiness.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration and strategic partnerships across the institution.
- Develop, strengthen, and maintain partnerships with business and industry, community organizations, alumni, donors, and other external stakeholders to support the School's mission and strategic goals.
- Serve as the School's chief academic representative and spokesperson for the external communities.
- Advance fundraising, donor engagement, grant development, and other resource development initiatives.
- Support and participate in School and institutional events, including Accepted Student Days, Open Houses, Commencement ceremonies, New Spartan Days, and other official functions.
- Terminal degree in a nursing or health professions-related field.
- Minimum of 5 years administrative/leadership experience at or higher than the department chair level (or equivalent title), including experience with strategic planning, budget management, assessment, and, if applicable, accreditation processes.
- Minimum of 5 years supervisory and collaborative leadership experience, including recruiting, developing, mentoring, evaluating, and retaining faculty and staff.
- Evidence of teaching, scholarship, and service at the postsecondary level as a faculty member.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in higher education.
- Understanding of the operations and culture of higher education, including effective shared governance.
- Demonstrated success leading strategic organizational change.
- Proficient in fundraising, advancement, external partnerships, or resource development.
- Demonstrated success in innovation, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop effective solutions.
- Evidence of excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Sustained ethical leadership and sound professional judgment, with the ability to make decisions fairly, transparently, and with integrity.
