A Brief Overview
This position is within the Compliance team and is the Second Line of Defense, focusing on identifying and gathering evidence of customer-related fraud, theft, or other financial misconduct. As such, this position also works to maintain and optimize Transaction/Activity Monitoring systems. Senior Analysts gather evidence about financial misconduct and conduct investigations to detail and report it to banks and regulators. This position also works to evaluate and assess data reliability related to such investigations for purposes of Unusual Activity Reports (UARs) to our banks. Senior Analysts also help with programs related to Know Your Customer (KYC), Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) efforts. As a Second Line of Defense compliance professional, serves as an escalation point for first line of defense inquiries, reporting, and procedures for fraud or related financial misconduct concerns and KYC, CDD, and EDD efforts.
What you will do
- Conduct in-depth investigations of evidence and/or allegations of potentially suspicious activity (typically involving customers, sometimes prospects, and more rarely employees)
such as fraud, money laundering, insider abuse, or other financial misconduct
- Document all facts and evidence collected and analyzed as part of an investigative process and
documents all findings in an organized and structured manner
- Maintain records, databases, logs, and other needed documentation related to such activities
- Produce Unusual Activity Reports (UARs) for filing with our banking
partners to meet their Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance reporting requirements
- Perform screening on accounts and transactions
- Review accounts and perform investigations for potential direct and indirect sanctions exposure
- Perform enhanced due diligence on high risk accounts
- Investigate and respond to inquiries from network and banking partners
- Contribute to projects optimizing the sanctions interdiction filter and alert queue logic
- Provide recommendations to enhance existing procedures and workflows
- Support the OFAC regulatory reporting operations process (i.e.,blocked property and rejected
transactions reports)
- Provide subject matter expert responsible for producing and maintaining procedures for areas of
responsibilities.
- Update procedures on a regular basis to meet corporate governance requirements
- Develop training materials for the first line of defense.
- Identify errors through the second line of defense testing requirements.
- Raise issues, re-train, and update issues for internal reporting
based on the second line of defense testing requirements
- Complete root cause analysis of errors to determine adherence requirements and to continually
improve documented processes.
- Update procedures, training, and documentation as part of the second line of defense
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Typically 6+ years
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of financial services industry screening, monitoring, and reporting trends and practices, including trends and practices in AML Management, Risk Management, Compliance, Investigations Practices, Technology, Operations, and Fraud
- Inquisitive nature that lends itself to conducting comprehensive research to aid in identifying potentially suspicious AML or financial crimes activity
- Detail oriented and ensures comprehensive documentation is recorded and retained
- Knowledgeable of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/AML requirementsCustomer Information Program/Know Your Customer (CIP/KYC) requirements, and/or other applicable requirements
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Ability to research and make appropriate decisions regarding complex cases
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
- Advanced Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with AML monitoring tools desired
- A substantial understanding of the professional services industry and, in particular, B2B outsourcing of payroll and other HR functions
