Description
An Automotive Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining cars, trucks, and other vehicles.
Job Summary:
Performs routine maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on vehicles. Identifies mechanical and electrical problems, recommends necessary repairs, and ensures all work is completed safely and according to manufacturer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect vehicles and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and computer-related problems.
- Perform oil changes, brake repairs, tire services, and other routine maintenance.
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, and exhaust components.
- Use diagnostic equipment and hand/power tools to identify vehicle issues.
- Perform vehicle inspections and road tests after repairs.
- Explain repair needs and recommendations to customers or service advisors.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
- Follow workplace safety procedures and manufacturer repair specifications.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Automotive repair experience or technical training preferred.
- Knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic procedures.
- Ability to use automotive diagnostic equipment and common mechanic tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined areas for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move automotive parts and equipment.
- Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools.
