Purpose
The Texas Union Underground is seeking friendly, dependable, and customer-focused students to join our team as Underground Student Cashiers. This is an active, hands-on position that supports the daily operations of the Underground while helping create a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable environment for our guests. Underground Student Cashiers work directly with customers and assist with bowling and billiards operations, cash handling, facility upkeep, and other day-to-day responsibilities. Successful candidates will be outgoing, reliable, willing to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

The Underground Student Cashier position provides an opportunity to develop valuable experience in customer service, teamwork, cash handling, facility operations, communication, and problem-solving while working in a fun, active environment at the Texas Union Underground.
Responsibilities
Underground Student Cashiers are expected to:
Provide friendly, professional, and attentive customer service to all Underground guests.
Learn and follow service desk procedures and the rules and regulations of the Underground and Texas Union.
Accurately handle cash and complete required cash-handling procedures.
Learn and become proficient with Steltronic, the Underground's computerized bowling and billiards management system.
Assist with bowling lane operations, including periodically working behind the lanes as needed.
Complete required TABC alcohol training and follow applicable policies and procedures.
Assist customers with questions, equipment, and general use of the Underground's facilities.
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for customers and fellow staff.
Work cooperatively with other student employees, Student Supervisors, and professional staff.
Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to assist with routine tasks and other duties as assigned.
Maintain consistent punctuality, dependability, and professionalism.
Be available to work weekends as part of the Underground's regular scheduling requirements.
Required Qualifications
Must be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin and meet the University's student employment eligibility requirements, including enrollment in at least six (6) semester credit hours, unless otherwise eligible under University policy.
Must be TABC certified.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
A friendly, outgoing, and helpful attitude.
Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and coworkers.
Attention to detail and the ability to accurately handle cash and transactions.
A willingness to learn new computer systems, equipment, procedures, and facility operations.
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Initiative and a willingness to assist others when needed.
Flexibility to work weekends and other shifts based on the operational needs of the Underground.
Hourly Rate:
$10.00 per hour; up to 19 hours per week
