Responsibilities
A Brief OverviewProvides quality patient care when performing mammography imaging services and related procedures by applying x-ray energy to demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles. The shift is 5 8 hr shifts or 4 10 hr shifts. What you will do
- Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care
- Complies with FDA and MQSA regulatory requirements
- Adheres to Baptist Health mission statements and strategic imperatives
- Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs
- Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results
- Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented
- Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors, to achieve desired high-quality images for interpretation
- Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, patient identification, and ensures that all breast anatomy is demonstrated according to MQSA/ACR guidelines
- Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others
- Requires utilization of Radiology Information System to accurately show arrival and completion of exams, correct coding of procedures done, and retrieval of reports
- Utilizes sterile technique for sterile procedures in accordance with OH policy and training. Administers medical aid as required for any emergency
- Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks
- Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases
- Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately
- Ensures safety of all customers
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies, department guidelines and education requirements
- Follows established imaging processing procedures and techniques
- Maintains a clean organized work area
- Maintains well stocked rooms
- Assures customer satisfaction
- Prioritizes workload to manage multiple priorities
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology
- Must have and maintain CME points as mandated by MQSA
- Valid Radiology registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
- BLS/Healthcare Provider certification required
