As a member of NAV CANADA’s Test Centre of Excellence, the Enterprise Test Architect is responsible for Standardizing testing across the Technology organization by defining test strategies and processes. Key Accountabilities:
- Write clear and concise documentation pertaining to testing, such as test standards and templates, while supporting research activities to develop best practices aligned with the TMMi framework
- Architect and execute the migration of test management repositories, traceability matrices, and testing artifacts from legacy systems (e.g., IBM Jazz/DOORS) to Azure DevOps (ADO).
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks and integrate them seamlessly into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing.
- Work with leadership to define verification and validation plans to support strategic initiatives, ensuring all testing adheres to strict safety standards such as (DO-278A/ED-109) and traceability requirements.
- Provide support on unit, integration, system, and acceptance level testing to all a diverse set of teams.
- Share knowledge of testing via presentations, training, and discussions to improve and augment overall test capabilities.
- Help identify suitable test metrics to assess test processes, and work with Technology teams to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to planning activities by providing estimates and timelines for required technical activities, while keeping abreast of trends, tools, and technology platforms specific to testing.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Graduated from a recognized university or college with a degree in Computer Science or Engineering or an acceptable combination of education, related experience, and training.
Experience:
- 3 + years experience in all stages of System Development and Testing System Development LifeCycle (SDLC) and it's methodologies, from planning and design to testing.
- Extensive experience working with automation frameworks, advanced scripting, and programming languages (e.g., Python, C#, Java, PowerShell).
- Proven experience leading tool migrations (specifically involving Application Lifecycle Management tools like Jazz and Azure DevOps) and CI/CD pipeline integrations.
Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of testing principles and how to apply them to small scale, large scale, and complex projects.
- Understand the value of good testing and the testing requirements to create high-quality products.
- Knowledge of programming languages and familiarity with test maturity models such as TMMi.
- Understanding the flow of code and System Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Knowledge of safety standards such as DO-278A/ED-109 and how to map them to technical tool configurations.
Abilities:
- Ability to identify test tools and test automation methods suitable for the organization.
- Ability to research new areas to provide advice on practical solutions for technical debt and legacy constraints.
- Able to write clear, cohesive, and concise documentation pertaining to testing that is easily understandable by colleagues, management, and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in collaboration with other teams, providing support to improve the maturity of testing and supporting their test process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to remain organized and prioritize daily tasks while working on multiple technical projects simultaneously.

Working conditions
- This position is based in Ottawa and is classified as hybrid, requiring a minimum of three days on site per week.
